Abstract
Description
8404051-s * 2 and is caused to melt a solder arranged between the connecting piece and the metal surface, the connecting piece during melting preventing the arc from coming into direct contact with the solder and the metal surface. However, the stated method presupposes that a cheaper additive material is used in the electrode, than the current silver solder. A cheaper additive material means that the silver content must be reduced. For environmental reasons, cadmium must not be included in the additive material in the electrode. A reduction in the silver content therefore means that the melting point of the additive material is raised.
This in turn leads to an increase in the amount of energy required to digest a certain amount of additive material. _ The energy source, which can consist of, for example, batteries, can be included in a portable unit together with other soldering equipment.
The size and weight of the energy source is thus of the utmost importance, as is the number of brackets that can be obtained from a charge, which is why an increase in the required amount of energy per solder is extremely unwelcome.
It is desirable, partly from a corrosion point of view, partly from a cosmetic point of view, that the amount of melted electrode is equal from solder to solder. Previously, the electrode consisted of brass with a tip of silver solder. The higher melting temperature of brass (900 ° C) compared to the silver solder used (630- ë60 ° C) resulted in a drastic reduction in the melting rate when all the solder was melted. It was therefore relatively easy to choose a combination of current density and burning time that melted a certain amount of solder but not a significant amount of brass.
This was also the case with the extension of the soldering time which was the result of the batteries being gradually discharged.
From a manufacturing point of view, it is advantageous if the entire electrode consists of only one material, e.g. brass. In that case, however, no difference in melting rate is obtained during the soldering process similar to that mentioned above, so an undesirable spread in the amount of melted material can be expected from soldering to soldering. The present invention aims to provide the electrode with a device which eliminates the mentioned disadvantages. The invention is mainly characterized in that the electrode is provided with a further groove arranged between the tip of the electrode and the instruction groove, whereby the heat developed from the arc is largely retained in the tip of the electrode and whereby a constant amount of material corresponding to the electrode material between the tip and the additional groove fused into the connector. As before, the electrode can be provided with a cap of silver solder, which encloses flux and possibly additional silver solder.
The invention will be explained with reference to the accompanying drawings. Fig. 1 shows a cross section of the tip of an unsoldered electrode. Fig. 2 shows the amount of melted electrode material as a function of the burning time for three different electrode designs.
Fig. 3 visar ett exempel på en elektrodutformning. Fig. 3 shows an example of an electrode design. Fig. 4 shows a cross section of a soldered electrode in a finished electrical connection.
Elektroden 1 i fig. The electrode 1 in Fig. 1 is provided with two grooves 2 and 3, so that two sections 4 and 5 are formed. Lane 2 is the previously known instruction for shutting off the electrode after complete soldering. 3 denotes a further groove below the original 2. The thermally conductive cross-sectional area of the electrode is reduced by the groove 3, which means that the heat developed from the arc is increasingly retained in the tip of the electrode, i.e. section 5, while section 4 obtains relatively a little heat. By concentrating the heat to section 5, with unchanged current density, an increased melting of brass can take place.
2. Fig. 2 shows a schematic comparison of how the amount of molten material varies with the burning time, partly for an electrode with the groove inserted according to the invention (curve 1), partly for an electrode without this groove (curve 2). For comparison, a corresponding curve has been entered for the electrode used today, containing a tip of silver solder (curve 3). The distance of the groove from the electrode tip as well as its depth is adjusted so that for a given amount of current, just the entire section 5 is melted off, point (a) in Fig. 2. When section 5 is melted, substantially no further melting will take place until section 4 has been sufficiently heated, point (b) in Fig. 2. This delay in melting results in a fairly constant amount of molten material being obtained with each soldering, even with an extension of the burning time, which may result of discharged batteries being used.
Spårets diameter (d) är då företrädesvis 3,5 mm och dess avstånd (1) från elektrcdens spets är då företrädesvis 2,5 mm.As an example, Fig. 3 shows the location of the rafter on a brass electrode, preferably 8 mm in diameter, intended to be soldered with an energy amount of 300 As. The diameter (d) of the groove is then preferably 3.5 mm and its distance (1) from the tip of the electrode is then preferably 2.5 mm.
Ovriga delen av elektroden är avslagen utefter spåret 2.Fig. 4 shows an example of a cross section of a soldered electrode in a finished electrical contact connection. The former section 5 of the electrode is fused and fills the cavity 6 of the cable lug 6. The section 4 of the electrode is now soldered into this cavity. The rest of the electrode is rejected along the groove 2.
