Abstract

The invention relates to a method for installing a lift 15 in an already completed building. The building is of the type which has at least one stairwell 9 facing onto an outer wall 8. In this stairwell 9 there is a staircase 10 which, viewed in a vertical direction between two floor levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, extends in the form of two flights of stairs 10a, 10b arranged alongside one another and with an intermediate landing 11 adjoining the outer wall 8. The characteristic of the method is that a new stairwell 12 is built on the outside of the wall 8, and outside of said stairwell 9, the new stairwell 12 having a new staircase 13 adjoining the intermediate landing 11. The flights of stairs 10a which are arranged one above the other, seen in the vertical direction, and which, seen from below, run from a floor level 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 to an intermediate landing 11, are then removed.
