Abstract

1,109,074. Signal measuring apparatus. MARCONI CO. Ltd. 10 Feb., 1967 [9 June, 1966], No. 25785/66. Heading G4H. An unknown signal is attenuated in predetermined steps by an attenuator 5 (Fig. 1) under the control of clock pulses fed from a source 4 via a switch 5 to a counter 3, a reference signal 7 being compared with the attenuated signal in a comparator 6. An inhibiting signal is fed to the switch 5 when the attenuated signal becomes equal to or slighty greater than the reference signal the count then in the counter 3 representing the unknown signal. The counter 3 also controls a resistive network 10, the output signal from which is the logarithm of the input and may be fed to a computer or recorded. The unknown input signals may be obtained during measurement of the polar diagram of an aerial.
