Foot control device for stopping industrial sewing machines at upper and lower sewing needle positions. GG-. comprises a base articulated to a hood which is so wide that both feet of the operator can rest on the hood which when depressed controls the speed of the machine, the hood being also provided along its longitudinal axis with a pivotally mounted crank, which when displaced to one or the other of its end positions, determines in which of the two end positions the sewing needle is to be arrested. Enlarging the area of the hood for accommodation of both feet reduces fatigue.
