[Also in Division H2] Aliphatic polyurethanes are suitably prepared from aliphatic polyisocyanates, e.g. hexamethylene diisocyanate and trimethylhexamethylene diisocyanate and aliphatic polyols which are, for example, monomeric polyols and polymeric polyols such as polyethers and particularly polyesters. The reaction mixture may also contain aliphatic vinyl esters and/or methacrylic esters and/or acrylic esters together with radical-forming initiators. In typical examples: (1) hexane-triol is reacted with hexamethylene diisocyanate, (2) hexane-triol is reacted with hexamethylene diisocyanate in the presence of methacrylic acid isobutyl ester, tertiary butyl perisooctoate, a commercial accelerator containing vanadyl p-toluenesulphonate and dimethyl cyclohexylamine. In similar examples, hexane-triol is replaced by a polyester derived from adipic acid, trimethylolpropane and hexanol, hexamethylene diisocyanate by a commercial triisocyanate and an isomeric mixture of 2,4,4<SP>1</SP>- and 2,2,4-trimethylhexamethylene diisocyanate and the methacrylic acid isobutyl ester by the vinyl ester of a commercial acid, methyl methacrylate and 2-ethylhexyl acrylate.
