Abstract

1296387 Separating gaseous mixtures STAL REFRIGERATION AB 1 Dec 1969 [11 March 1969] 58567/69 Heading F4P In a process for removing water and separating a particular constituent from a wet gaseous mixture, water capour is removed from the mixture by condensing and solidifying before the constituent is separated. The wet gaseous mixture in tank 1 is passed via valve 2 through the sheet space of a heat exchanger 3 containing a tube stack 5 filled with ice from a previous cycle. Water vapour in the mixture is partially condensed and run off at valve 7 whilst the ice is melted and run off at valve 6. The gas passes from exchanger 3, via valves 8 and 9 into the tube stack 10 in a second exchanger 11, wherein it is cooled in heat exchange with gas from which the water and particular constituent has been removed thus solidifying the water vapour. The gas then passes via a non-return valve 12 to condenser 4 wherein the particular constituent is condensed and collected in tank 14; the condenser is cooled by a refrigeration machine 13. The residual gas passes via valve 2 back to heat exchanger 11 and then via valve 8 to a reservoir 15. When a predetermined amount of ice collects in tube stack 10 valves 2,8 and 9 are reversed and water vapour is condensed in exchanger 11 and frozen out in tube stack 5.
