Abstract

The invention relates to a method carried out by a server (100) for determining a popularity ranking list of media items. The method comprises the following steps: generating (310) a user vote list comprising a plurality of media item slots; providing (320) the user vote list to each of the user devices; generating (330) at least one playlist comprising at least one media item; providing (340) said at least one playlist to a plurality of user devices; monitoring (350) duration of presence of each of the media items at each of the media item slots in each of the user vote lists during a period of time; determining (360), based on duration of presence of each of the media items at each of the media item slots in each of the user vote lists, a popularity ranking list of the media items; providing (370) the popularity ranking list of the media items to each of the user devices. Further, the invention relates to a server for determining a popularity ranking list of media items; a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium; a method carried out by a user device (200A, 200B) for determining a popularity ranking list of media item; and a media application (250A, 250B) for a user device.
