Description
The stiffening layer has this layer and parts extending beyond the extent of the film to form grips. Film dressings having release sheets and stiffening layers, both of which extend past the thin sole of the dressing, are known, see for example US 2004/0138603 A1. It is also known to attach separate grips or the like to stiffening layers and release sheets.
Film dressings are often made by manufacturers who do not produce the films themselves but obtain the films from manufacturers of plastic films. For easy handling and preparation, such films are produced by coextrusion of the thin film and a carrier strip of plastic material, which have a small affinity for each other so that the thin film can be easily removed without carrying the film or vice versa. Such a carrier film can be used as a stiffening layer or carrier layer in a film joint. However, if such carrier film was used as the stiffening layer, no edge of the stiffening layer will extend beyond the edge of the thin film.
An object of the present invention is to provide a method for manufacturing an adhesive joint, in which the release sheet and the stiffening layer are easy to remove without these layers extending past the thin adhesive. It is also an object of the present invention to provide such a method in which the release sheet can be applied as a single piece of material.
OF THE INVENTION These objects are achieved by a method of making adhesive dressings comprising the steps of feeding a composite web consisting of a first layer of thin plastic adhesive and a second carrier layer releasably attached to the thin adhesive, and a web of release material in a machine direction, to applying a layer of adhesive to the web of release material or to the layer of thin plastic film, joining the composite web consisting of a first layer of thin plastic film and a second carrier layer with the web of release material after the layer of adhesive has been applied to either the web of release material or layer of thin plastic film, to cut off the web of release material along a line extending in the machine direction, characterized by the further step of weakening the first layer of thin film along a line coinciding with the cut one. the line in the web of release material. In such a method, the stiffening layer supplied by the manufacturer of the thin film can be used, which considerably reduces material waste. Furthermore, since the release sheet in an adhesive joint produced by this method is divided into two parts only by means of a cut line, an edge of a part of the release sheet does not have to be folded to form a grip and the other part of the release sheet has a whole. does not smile an overlapping edge. The web of release material can then be used as a so-called process paper, i.e. a web on which the adhesive layer and the composite of carrier layer and thin film can be laid, which simplifies the production of dressings and reduces material waste.
According to a preferred embodiment, the line of weakness is a perforation line and said cut line is a straight line. Approached cut line is preferably located at a distance of 5-50 mm, preferably 10-30 mm from one of the edges of the web of release material. The distance between the perforations in the perforation line one is 0.1-5 mm and the perforations in the perforation line are preferably made through the entire composite web consisting of carrier material and a layer of thin plastic fi ch. The release material is preferably silicone coated paper.
The invention also relates to an adhesive dressing comprising a thin plastic film, a stiffening layer releasably attached to one side of the plastic film, a layer of adhesive applied to the plastic film on the side opposite the stiffening layer and a release sheet covering the adhesive layer, a cut line extends along an edge of the joint at a distance (d) therefrom, is made through the release sheet, characterized in that a line of weakness coinciding with the foam line in the release sheet is made in the plastic sheet.
According to a preferred embodiment, the line of weakness is a perforation line e, and the perforations in the perforation line preferably also penetrate the stiffening layer. The thin plastic film may be a polyurethane film and the stiffening layer may consist of polyethylene film. The adhesive in the adhesive layer may be an acrylate adhesive and the release sheet a silicone coated paper sheet. Alternatively, the adhesive in the adhesive layer may be a silicone adhesive and the release sheet a polyethylene sheet or a polypropylene sheet. In another alternative, the release sheet is a laminate of a sheet of paper and a polyethylene sheet or a laminate of a sheet of paper and a polypropylene sheet.
OF THE DRAWINGS The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying diagrams, of which: Fig. 1 schematically shows a side view of a manufacturing line for wiring, illustrating the method according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, Fig. 2 schematically shows a plan view The top of the production line one in Fig. 1, Fig. 3 schematically shows a perspective view of an elastic band made in the production line according to Figs. 1 and 2, and Fig. 4 schematically illustrates the first step in the application of an elastic band made in production line one according to Figs. 1 and 2.
1 and 2 schematically show a production line for continuous production of adhesive tapes. A web 2 of release material is unwound from a storage roll 1 and placed on a conveyor (not shown) and transported on the conveyor in the direction of the arrow A. An adhesive coating 3 is applied to the web 2 by means of a suitable glue applicator 4, which may for example be a blade coater or a slit nozzle. A composite web, consisting of a thin film 5 and a carrier layer 6 releasably attached to the film 5, is then unwound from a storage roll 7 and laid on the adhesive layer 3.
A continuous line 8, which extends in the machine direction, i.e. the conveying direction 10 for the conveyor, is then cut through the web 2 of release material without reaching into the film layer 5 by means of a suitable cutting tool 9, such as a rotary cutting device .
Nämnda perforationslinje sammanfaller med den skurna linjen 8.A line of perforations 10 is then made through the carrier layer 6 and the film layer 5 by any suitable means 11, such as a laser device or an ultrasonic device or a rotary cutting tool. Said perforation line coincides with the cut line 8.
Slutligen skäres den sammansatta banan bestående av skikten 2, 3, 5, 6 i tvärled till enskilda filmtörband 13 med hjälp av en lämplig skäranordning 12.Finally, the composite web consisting of the layers 2, 3, 5, 6 is cut transversely into individual adhesive strips 13 by means of a suitable cutting device 12.
After manufacture, the adhesive joints 13 are transported to a packaging station (not shown in the figures).
The layers in each band 13 have been given the same reference numerals as the corresponding paths 2, 3, 5, 6 with the addition of the number 1. Fig. 3 shows a band 13 in a perspective view. The carrier layer in the adhesive dressing 13 is referred to by the numeral 61, the adhesive layer by the number 51, the adhesive layer by the numeral 31 and the release sheet by 21. The cut line 81 and the coincident perforation line 101 divide each adhesive joint 13 into two parts 14 and 15, such as can be seen in Figs. 2 and 3. As will be explained later, the part 15 functions as a gripping part and therefore has a rather short extent perpendicular to the nearest edge of the joint directed in the machine direction, i.e. the direction indicated by the arrow A. Preferably For example, the distance d from the nearest edge of the tape and the coincident lines 8 is 5-50 mm, and more preferably 10-30 mm.
Fig. 4 schematically illustrates an example of how the first step in applying an adhesive dressing 13 can be performed. The joint 13 is gripped in the part 15 with one hand, the right hand in Fig. 4, and is held so that the part 14 is allowed to form an angle with the part 15 by gravity force fi. The release sheet 21 of the dressing 13 should be facing upwards as illustrated in Fig. 4. If necessary, the left hand can be used to fold the part 14 downwards. With the dressing 13 in this position, as shown in Fig. 4, it is easy for the user to make an upper corner of the release sheet from the rest of the part 14 upwards relative to the part 15 and thereby release a small upper part. of the release sheet from the film or to release the release sheet from the thin film by peeling with a thumb. The released corner is then gripped between the fingers of the left hand and completely or partially removed from the rest of the part 14. If partially removed, the part of the dressing 13 which has an uncovered adhesive area then attached to the skin and the remaining the portion of the release sheet of the portion 14 is then removed while attaching the thereby uncovered adhesive area. After attaching the dressing, the carrier layer 61 is then removed from the thin needle. The outermost part of the carrier layer 61, the part near the perforation line, has been lifted in the manufacturing method so that a small part of the carrier layer is no longer attached to the thin film, whereby an easily grippable film for removing the film is produced. After removing the carrier layer 61, the remaining part of the part 15, i.e. a part of the release sheet and the thin film attached thereto, is firmly gripped.
Thereafter, the strap is attached to the release sheet in the part 15 of the liner away from the part of the strap which is attached to the skin, i.e. the part of the strap located in the part 14, by tearing off the perforation line, and the release sheet in the part 15 and the part of the film attached to it is then discarded.
In order to achieve a slight tearing of the fi elm in the part15 of the joint, the distance between adjacent perforations in perforation line a 101 must be 0.1-5 mm.
In Fig. 4, the angle between the parts 14 and 15 of the liner 13 is large. This is not necessary, the corners of the release sheet 21 on the part 14 are easily detached and gripped even if the angle is smaller.
Through the described method, a compound is thus produced, which is easy to handle and apply. In addition, due to the stiffening properties of the carrier, the dressing can be cut to any suitable shape by the user of the dressing 13 provided that at least a part of the connection between the parts 14 and 15 of the dressing 13 is unbroken. As mentioned above, the composite web consisting of a thin film 5 and a carrier layer 6 supplied by the iron manufacturer was used in the method according to the invention.
Thereby, a removal of this carrier layer and an application of another carrier layer by heat and pressure or adhesive is not necessary in the manufacturing method according to the present invention. Furthermore, since the release sheet is divided into two parts only by a cut line, there is no need to remove the web 2 of release material and apply a web of release material consisting of two parts, one part having a folded edge and the other the part has an edge part overlapping said folding.
Metoden enligt föreliggande uppfirming medger således en effektiv materialanvänd- ning utan något materialspill i tillverkningslinj en.The method according to the present invention thus allows an efficient use of material without any material waste in the production line.
The web 2 of release material is preferably a web of silicone coated paper of the type commonly used as a release sheet material in wound dressings. However, any material used as a release material in wound tape, such as plastic film material, can be used. An example of a suitable material is silicone-coated paper with the trade name Lopasíl CCK from Loparex B.V., Apeldoorn, NL. Since the release material must be easily removable from the adhesive coating 3, the choice of release material depends on the adhesive used in the dressing. If, for example, a silicone adhesive is used, a silicone-coated material is unsuitable and known release materials for dressings having silicone adhesive are used, such as a web of polyethylene, a laminate of paper and polyethylene or a laminate of paper and polypropylene.
The adhesive layer 3 is preferably a layer of acrylate adhesive or hot melt. A suitable adhesive is Dispomelt® 70-4647 from National Starch and Chemical Company, Brídgewater, NJ, USA. Other adhesives known to be used in wound bandages, such as silicone adhesive, may also be used.
The thin film 5, which has a thickness of less than 70 μm, is preferably of polyurethane. A suitable film is Platilon® 2202 from Epurex Films GmbH & Co KG, Bomlitz, Germany. Such a film is delivered supporting a web of polyethylene. Other types 10 15 20 25 30 8 of adhesive materials used adhesive joints can also be used delivered carried by webs of carrier material.
The carrier layer 6 is made of a material which is easily removable from the film 5, and is thus dependent on the adhesive material. For a polyurethane film, a polyethylene carrier is suitable. All known combinations of films and carrier materials for film tapes can be used in the present invention.
In the embodiment of Figs. 1 and 2, the adhesive layer is applied to the web of release material. In another embodiment (not shown), the adhesive layer may instead be applied to the thin film of the composite web consisting of carrier material and thin film delivered to the filmmaker. A web of release material is then applied to the adhesive layer applied to the thin film. Thereafter, the cutting steps described in connection with the drying shapes according to Figs. 1 and 2 are performed, the only difference is that the cutting of the continuous line in the web of release material is performed from above instead of from below as in Fig. 1 and the perforation takes place from below instead of above. - from.
The last step of transverse cutting to form individual adhesive tapes is omitted if the produced adhesive tape is to be wound on a roll as a continuous adhesive tape.
It is preferred that the perforation line 10 and the cut line 8 through the web of release material are preferably perfectly aligned with each other but this is not strictly necessary. A difference of up to 1 or 2 mm can be allowed without seriously damaging the function of the final product.
It is also preferred that the foam line and thereby also the perforation line one be straight. However, these lines may be curved, for example have a waveform, or have curved parts. To facilitate manufacture, the perforation line 10 is described as passing through both the carrier layer 6 and the adhesive layer 5. However, it is only necessary for the perforation line one to pass through the inner layer 5. It is thus possible, but not preferred, to produce the perforation line from below so that it only passes through the layer 5.
Instead of a perforation line, another type of weakening line can be cut into the film. Such a line can be made simultaneously with the cutting of the continuous line through the web of release material only by making a deeper notch. Such a cutter should reach 15-70% of the thickness of the film to make the film easily tearable, depending on the thickness and the mechanical strength of the film.
It is pointed out that even though the method has been developed for filmmakers, who do not produce the films themselves, the method is not limited thereto. Of course, a filmmaker can also make film dressings. It is also possible to have the film manufacturer use a specific carrier material selected by the film dressing manufacturer. The use of carrier material with which the film is delivered in the present manufacturing method is thus not in itself limiting for the choice of carrier material.
The embodiment described with reference to the figures can of course be modified without departing from the scope of the invention. For example, the carrier layer 6, which stiffens the film 5, can be divided into two or more parts of a cut line by means of equipment similar to the equipment used to cut the line 8. The perforation of the release layer 6 and the film 5 can be done before the step of cutting line 8 through the release path 2. The scope of the invention should therefore only be limited by the content of the appended patent claims.
