Abstract

The braking cylinder, braking piston and brake lining are all ring-shaped so that they can be mounted concentrically around an axle between a support surface in the gearbox and an opposing lateral surface of a gear-wheel on the axle inside the gearbox. The piston presses the lining against this lateral surface in order to provide braking. The brake comprises a braking cylinder with a pressurised fluid-actuated braking piston acting against a brake lining.
