Abstract

The sail is formed by a pair of overlapping sailcloths which can be formed either into a wing profile with upper and lower pressure sides for sailing in cross-wind conditions, or into a sail suitable for sailing in conditions where the wind is blowing from the stern, in which case each sailcloth is spread out on one side of the boat in order to double the sail area. The sail can also be rolled up along its front edge in order to regulate the exposed sail area or it can be rolled up completely.
