Abstract
AbstractThe present invention provides a rotating electric machine comprising a stator and a rotor. The stator is equipped with a plurality of teeth each having essentially the same shape in each single radial cross section of the stator, said teeth being arranged at equal distance from each other on the periphery of the stator so as to form an air gap between the envelope surface of said rotor and surface of each respective tooth facing the rotor. At least part of the surface of the respective tooth, viewed from an axial direction of the stator is arranged having a relation between a first distance between a striking edge, viewed tangentially in the direction of rotation of the rotor of the respective tooth and the envelope surface of said rotor and having a second distance between a trailing edge, viewed in said direction of the respective tooth and the envelope surface of said rotor, said relation being capable of affecting the magnetic field generated in operation between said surface of each respective tooth and envelope surface of the rotor so as to make the flux density of the field essentially evenly distributed across the full width of the tooth in a tangential direction. The design will thus reduce the temperature increase in the stator teeth generated by an unevenly distributed flux density in the air gap.
