Abstract

A substrate (6) is arranged facing a patterned surface of a pressing portion (4), so that substrate and pressing portions are movable along a common line. The pattern (7) is formed on a layer (5) on the substrate by applying pressure to the substrate and pressing portion, after contacting the pressing portion with substrate, while maintaining the line. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method of forming pattern on both surface of a substrate; (2) use of conical mandrel; and (3) device for forming pattern on a surface of substrate.
