Abstract

The present invention relates to a method for measuring a temperature in a Coulomb blockade thermometer, consisting of tunnel junctions and means for measuring its current-voltage characteristics. The method comprises the step of measuring the third derivative of the current-voltage characteristics, d<3>I/dV<3>, which derivate shows a zero crossing at the voltage which scales linearly depending on the temperature so that said voltage forms a primary thermometer. The invention also relates to a Coulomb blockade thermometer.
