Abstract

The invention relates to a method for drying of timber. In the method, timber 7, 11 is dried in a unitary drying compartment of the type divided into two zones 1, 2, whereby the timber is displaced from the first 1 zone to the second 2 zone during the proceeding of the drying, whereby the timber has a lower temperature than the dewpoint temperature of the drying compartment 1, 2 when it is introduced into the first zone 1, and temperature and moisture is measured in the different zones 1, 2. According to the invention, the air flow in the zone 1 is regulated in such a way that the condensed amount of water in the cargo 7 of the first zone at least substantially corresponds to the amount of water evaporated form the whole channel. <IMAGE>
