Abstract
This publication describes a method for improving the quality of the coating of a paper web 4 coming from a coating station 5 and which is passed through a drying process 1-3, by controlling the drying effect in the drying process 1-3. According to the invention drying is conducted in three successive zones 1-3, at least the first two of which 1-2 are individually controllable. The moisture content of web 4 is determined with moisture sensor 6, 7 at a site A between the first 1 and the second zone 2 and at a site B between the second 2 and third zone 3. From these readouts the drying effect is then controlled in the first zone 1 and on the other side the drying effect is controlled in both the first one and in the second critical zone 2 so that the moisture content of the web at points A and B is the same as the desired reference value. <IMAGE>
