يقدر التدفق متعدد الأطـوار Multi-phase flowفي مقياس التدفقflow meter ذو المرحلة الأولـى و الثانية بواسطة اشتقاق العلاقة الرياضية algorithm بشكل تجريبي لأجـزاء الماء و الغاز water and gas fractions و قياس الضغوط measuring pressures ضمن مقياس التدفق flow meter وتقدير معـدل التدفق الكتلي الكليtotal mass flow rate معتمد بصفة أساسـيه علـى الضـغوط المقاسة. يحسب معدل التدفـق الكتلي الكلي المصحـح corrected total mass flow rate باستخدام تقنية تصحيح انزلاق السائل/الغـاز liquid/gas slip correction technique. يمكن تحديد الجزء الزيتيoil fraction من معدل التدفق الكتلي الكلي المصحح و أجـزاء الغازgas و الماء.
