Способ обнаружения и неразрушающего анализа веществ, содержащих ядра легких элементов, в том числе органических веществ, включающий облучение анализируемого объекта потоком быстрых моноэнергетических нейтронов, генерируемых в результате реакции в материале мишени, сопровождаемой образованием заряженных частиц отдачи, с определением моментов времени возникновения, величин энергии и векторов исходного движения нейтронов по моментам времени регистрации и координатам точек взаимодействия заряженных частиц отдачи с позиционно-чувствительными детекторами заряженных частиц отдачи, отличающийся тем, что регистрируют нейтроны, однократно упругорассеянные на веществах внутри анализируемого объекта, а об элементном составе и пространственном распределении веществ в анализируемом объекте судят по величинам масс ядер входящих в них элементов, определяемых по величинам энергий и углов рассеяния нейтронов с известными моментами времени возникновения, величиной энергии и векторами исходного движения, претерпевших однократное упругое рассеяние в веществах анализируемого объекта, и координатам точек, в которых произошло это рассеяние, путем регистрации моментов времени и координат точек двух последующих взаимодействий каждого из этих нейтронов с рабочим веществом двух и более позиционно-чувствительных детекторов нейтронов, причем первое из взаимодействий является реакцией упругого рассеяния нейтронов на известном рабочем веществе этих детекторов.1.
