Abstract
FIELD: biotechnology, microbiology. SUBSTANCE: the proposed strain Bacillus amyloliquefaciens "КГМ"-5 produces thymidine (up to 4.5 g/l) for 96 h fermentation on medium containing, %: glucose 12; food yeast - paprin 3.4; ammonium nitrate 2.5; magnesium chloride 0.5, and chalk 2. Strain exhibits resistance to 5-fluorouracil, 5-fluorouridine, 5-fluorodeoxyuridine and auxotrophic properties with regard to adenine, histidine, thiamine and partial auxototrophic ones to tyrosine and asparagine. Synthesized thymidine is used as the parent compound for synthesis of azidothymidine - drug against AIDS. EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of thymidine production.
