FIELD: treatment and decontamination of hydrocarbon- containing gases. SUBSTANCE: hydrocarbon containing gas is decomposed using nickel-containing catalyst at 450-650 C. Hydrocarbon-containing gas is introduced into dispersing layer composed of mixture of mixture of inert material (carbon or AlO) and catalyst in 15:1 weight ratio.
