Abstract
FIELD: metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: method involves melting burden; increasing intensity of current directed through melt in horizontal and vertical planes, as melt is accumulated, and increasing intensity and direction of currents in current supplies positioned below melt. Current supplies are mounted below furnace bottom, with number of supplies being in accordance with number of units for controlling current of power source. Current supplies are positioned at an angle one with respect to the other in horizontal plane and connected to bottom electrodes and control units through commutation devices. EFFECT: increased efficiency, reduced power consumption, improved quality of mixed melt.
