Abstract

FIELD: ultrasonic inspection. SUBSTANCE: invention is related to ultrasonic inspection of articles and may be used to test thickness of deposits inside water-supply pipe without interruption of water supply. Process involves sensing of ultrasonic oscillations along normal to surface of pipe, reception of ultrasonic oscillations passed through pipe filled with water in advance, measurement of intensity of ultrasonic oscillation passed through pipe and comparison of it with intensity of ultrasonic oscillations passed through identical pipe filled with same liquid but having no deposits. Thickness of deposits in pipe and internal flow section of pipe are evaluated by this comparison. Thickness of deposits may also be found by use of this dependence, where r is summary thickness of deposits on internal diametrically opposite sections of walls of pipe, Uo is amplitude of ultrasonic oscillations received by receiving converter while they pass through walls of sample of pipe having no internal deposits; U is amplitude of ultrasonic oscillations received by receiving converter while they pass through tested pipe with possible deposits, a is factor of damping of ultrasonic oscillations in tested layer of deposit on carrier frequency of ultrasonic oscillations (factor a is determined experimentally for each type of deposits) when damping of ultrasonic oscillations in layer of deposits is mush greater than damping in water and metal from which pipe is manufactured. So it becomes possible to determine thickness of deposits having large factor of damping of ultrasonic oscillations in internal walls of pipe-line. EFFECT: increased accuracy of measurement of thickness of layers of deposits in water-supply pipes without interruption of process of water supply. 3 cl, 2 dwg

The invention relates to the field of ultrasonic testing of products and can be used to control the thickness of deposits inside pipes used to supply water without stopping the supply process. The technical problem to be solved is to increase the accuracy of measuring the thickness of deposits in water pipes without interrupting the water supply process. The measurement method includes inputting ultrasonic vibrations normal to the surface of the pipe, receiving ultrasonic vibrations transmitted through the pipe pre-filled with water, measuring the intensity of ultrasonic vibrations transmitted through the pipe and comparing it with the intensity of ultrasonic vibrations transmitted through the same pipe filled with the same liquid, but without deposits, and this comparison is used to judge the thickness of deposits in the pipe and the internal bore of the pipe.
