Abstract

FIELD: manufacture of engines. SUBSTANCE: internal combustion multi-cylinder diesel engine converted from spark-plug ignition gasoline engine has head 2 of cylinders 3 with wedge-shaped combustion chambers 1, intake valves 7 and exhaust valves 8 of V-arrangement relative to each other, injectors 9 with multi-perforated atomizer 12 located vertically in combustion chambers 1 near longitudinal axis 10 of each cylinder. Innovation of invention consists in fitting each cylinder 3 with two intake valves 7 on one side of combustion chamber 1 and two exhaust valves 8 on other side of chamber 1. Each combustion chamber 1 is made in form of surface of revolution, for example, sphere 4 with cylindrical recesses 5 for seats 6 and plates of valves 7 and 8 and is provided with starting glow plug 11 between intake valves 7. Atomizer 12 of each injector 9 has five spraying orifices; axis of one orifice lies in plane perpendicular to longitudinal axis of engine on side of starting glow plug 11; angle between any two adjacent axes of spraying orifices is equal to 72 deg in plan and extensions of axes of four other spraying orifices are directed towards four valves 7 and 8 of cylinder 3 but are shifted in plan relative to centers of cylindrical recesses 17 for plates of valves 7 and 8. EFFECT: enhanced reliability.

Claims (1)

The invention relates to engine building, in particular to the conversion of spark-ignited gasoline engines to diesel engines. A multi-cylinder diesel internal combustion engine, converted from a gas-fired internal combustion engine with spark ignition, has a cylinder head 2 with tent-shaped combustion chambers 1, inlet valves 7 and exhaust valves 8 arranged in a U-shape relative to each other, injection nozzles 9 with a multi-hole atomizer 12 located in the combustion chambers 1 vertically near the longitudinal axis 10 of each cylinder 3. New in the invention is that for each cylinder 3 there are two intake valves 7 with one the orons of the chamber 1 and two exhaust valves 8 on the other side of the chamber 1, each combustion chamber 1 is made in the form of a surface of revolution, for example a sphere 4 with cylindrical recesses 5 under the seats 6 and valve plates 7.8, and has a starting glow plug between the intake valves 7 11. The atomizer 12 of each nozzle 9 has five spray holes, the axis of one of which lies in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the engine on the side of the starting glow plug 11, the angle between any two adjacent axes of the spray holes of the nozzle in the plan is 72 °, so that the continuation of the axes of the four other spray holes are directed to the sides of the four valves 7.8 of the cylinder 3, but are shifted in plan relative to the centers of the cylindrical recesses 17 under the valve plates 7.8.
