Abstract

FIELD: chemical technology, applicable in processes involved in recovery of manganese from solutions and pulps containing uranium and its decay products. SUBSTANCE: solutions containing manganese and radioactive elements with pH 4.5 are alkalized with lime to pH 7.0. Solution is separated from sediments and manganese products are precipitated by carbonate salts of ammonium or alkali metals. EFFECT: reduced content of radioactive impurities in products of manganese utilization.

Claims (1)

The invention relates to chemical technology and can be used in schemes for the extraction of manganese from solutions and pulps containing uranium and its daughter decay products. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that solutions containing manganese and radioactive elements with pH 4.5 are made alkaline with lime to pH 7.0, the solution is separated from the precipitate, and then the manganese products are precipitated with carbonate salts of ammonium or alkali metals. The method allows to reduce the content of radioactive impurities in the products of utilization of manganese.
