Abstract

FIELD: medicinal microbiology. SUBSTANCE: strain has stable capability to produce α--- and b--hemolysins inducing lysis of ram and rabbit erythrocytes. α-- and β--Hemolytic activity is determined by the strain sowing on the nutrient medium containing ram and rabbit erythrocytes followed by incubation at 37 α- 1 C for 18-24 h and recording. The presence of lysis zones indicates production of β-- and ±-hemolysins. Invention can be used for determination of α-- and β---hemolytic activity that is a trait of enterobacteria pathogenicity. EFFECT: strain indicated above, improved method of assay.

Claims (1)

The invention relates to medical microbiology and can be used as a reference strain in determining α- and β-hemolytic activity - signs of pathogenicity of enterobacteria. The strain has a stable ability to produce α- and β-hemolysins, causing lysis of sheep and rabbit erythrocytes. α- and β-hemolytic activity is determined by plating the strain on a nutrient medium containing sheep and rabbit erythrocytes, followed by incubation at (37 ± 1) o С for 18-24 hours and counting. The presence of lysis zones indicates the production of α- and β-hemolysins.
