The cell is provided with cation-exchange membrane, whereas ion-exchange bed is in fluidized state in alkali chamber of the cell. The cell may additionally contain alternating bipolar and cation-exchange membranes forming alkali and acid chambers. Water to be softened is fed into alkali chamber of the electrochemical cell filled with fluidized ionite bed at the rate 0.1-1.0 cm/sec and current density 0.05-5.00 A/dm. Then water passes filter and enters acid chamber of the cell. EFFECT: eliminated necessity of reagents.
