Abstract

FIELD: radar systems; map-making radars with synthetic aperture of antenna. SUBSTANCE: method consists in forming radar display of section of water surface with moving object in map-making mode, measurement of shift on radar display on longitudinal coordinate of ship's image relative to beginning of image of her wake, measurement of angle between longitudinal coordinate of radar display and line tangent to beginning of axis of ship's wake image and calculation of modulus of ship's speed vector by formulae. Used as line tangent to beginning of axis of ship's wake image are: line tangent to beginning of ship's wake image; bisector of angle between lines tangent to beginning of images of diverging branches of the envelope of Kelvin waves. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of determination of vector of surface ship's speed.

The invention relates to radar and can be used when using cartographic radars with a synthesized antenna aperture (SAR). The aim of the invention is to increase the reliability of determining the velocity vector of a surface ship. The method consists in forming by means of SAR in the mode of mapping a radar image (RI) of a portion of a water surface with a moving object, measuring on RI displacement along the longitudinal coordinate of the image of the ship relative to the beginning of the image of its ship’s track, measuring the angle between the longitudinal coordinate of the RL and tangent to the beginning of the image axis the ship’s track and the calculation of the module of the ship’s speed vector by the formula. As a tangent to the beginning of the axis of the image of the ship’s track, use a tangent to the beginning of the image of the wake of the ship’s track, the bisector of the angle between the tangents to the beginning of the images of the diverging branches of the envelope of the Kelvin waves.
