Сущность изобретения: для стерилизации питьевой воды воду пропускают через активированный уголь, предварительно обработанный солями полигексаметиленгуанидина с молекулярной массой 1 - 50 тыс. у. е., при этом соли полигексаметиленгуанидина (ПГМГ) и активированный уголь берут в соотношениях 0,02 - 0,2.
