where R 1 is a hydrocarbon group containing from 8 to 24 carbon atoms, R 2 and R 3 each independently are H or a hydrocarbon group containing from 1 to 24 carbon atoms, or a group of the general formula:
where R 5 is an alkylene group containing from 2 to 8 carbon atoms, and R 2 and R 3 are as previously defined, each of R 4 is independently an alkylene group containing from 2 to 8 carbon atoms, and each of x, y and z is independently an integer from 0 to 20. In one embodiment, components (A) and (B) are present in quantities sufficient to ensure the purity of the entire fuel supply system; in another embodiment, components (A) and (B) are present in quantities sufficient to prevent or reduce the formation of deposits on the inlet valve, or to remove these deposits in cases where they have already formed. The methods ensure the purity of the entire fuel supply system and prevent or reduce the formation of deposits on the intake valves, or the removal of these deposits.
