Изобретение относится к технике пожаротушения. Сущность предлаемого способа тушения горения жидкости в резервуаре заключается в подаче нейтрального газа в жидкость и в подаче пенообразующего раствора. Новым является то, что пенообразующий раствор подают не на поверхность жидкости, а в зону подачи нейтрального газа. В ряде случаев слой пенообразующего раствора может постоянно находиться под слоем жидкости, в этом случае нейтральный газ подают в зону нахождения пенообразующего раствора. Сущность предлагаемого устройства для тушения горения жидкости в резервуаре заключается в том, что оно содержит емкость с пенообразующим раствором, соединенную с форсункой через трубопровод с запорным клапаном, источник газа, соединенный с барботером через газовый трубопровод с запорным клапаном, датчик воспламенения, соединенный с запорными клапанами.
