Abstract
Description
The invention relates to foundry production, in particular to compositions of non-stick coatings for molds and cores used in the production of iron castings.
Known non-stick paint for molds and cores [SU No. 1184601, publ. 15.10.1985], containing thermoactive diatomaceous earth, ethyl alcohol, polyvinyl butyral in the following ratio, wt. %: thermoactive diatomaceous earth - 5-10, ethyl alcohol - 50.5-51.2; thermally activated diatomite - 5-10; polyvinyl butyral - 1.9-2.5; cryptocrystalline graphite - the rest.
Its main disadvantage is the low technological properties, in particular the low thickness of the cover layer, that is, the coating almost completely penetrates into the pores of the form.
The closest in technical essence and the achieved results to the claimed coating is non-stick paint for molds and cores [RU No. 2632313, publ. 03.10.2017] composition, wt. %: as a solvent, isopropyl alcohol - 40-43, as a binder, polyvinyl butyral - 2-3, as a filler, natural and activated cryptocrystalline graphite in a ratio of 1: 1 - the rest.
A significant disadvantage of this paint is the burn on the surface of the castings, which requires labor-intensive operations to clean them.
The problem to be solved by the invention is to reduce the thickness of the burn on the surface of cast iron castings.
%:This is achieved by the fact that in the non-stick coating for molds and cores, based on cryptocrystalline graphite, polyvinyl butyral, isopropyl alcohol, according to the invention, additionally contains graphite-containing sludge in the following ratio, wt. %:
изопропиловый спирт - 40-45;isopropyl alcohol - 40-45;
поливинилбутираль - 2-3;polyvinyl butyral - 2-3;
графитсодержащий шлам - 10-30;graphite-containing sludge - 10-30;
скрытокристаллический графит - остальное.cryptocrystalline graphite - the rest.
The content of isopropyl alcohol is less than 40 wt. % leads to a decrease in the wettability of the filler, and more than 45 wt. % entails a low coating density, from which streaks are formed during application to the form.
The content of polyvinyl butyral 2-3 wt. % due to the fact that less than 2% of the component does not provide sufficient adhesion of the coating to the form, and more than 3 wt. % binder is poorly soluble in alcohol.
Фазовый состав шлаков представлен графитом (до 44%), кальцитом (до 12,7%), кристаллобалитом (до 1,5%), пиритом (до 3,65%), кварцем (до 19,23%), клинохлором (до 17,1%) и халитом (до 1,56%).Graphite-containing sludge is a carbon-containing material from an aspiration gas purification system in the production of cryptocrystalline graphite. The elemental composition of the sludge is represented by carbon (up to 45%), sulfur (up to 1.95%), silicon (up to 13.0%). The phase composition of slags is represented by graphite (up to 44%), calcite (up to 12.7%), crystallobalite (up to 1.5%), pyrite (up to 3.65%), quartz (up to 19.23%), clinochlore (up to 17.1%) and halit (up to 1.56%).
The content of graphite-containing sludge of 10-30% is due to the fact that less than 10% of the coating does not form a penetrating layer, and more than 30 wt. % does not form a cover layer. This is related to the particle size of graphite and graphite-containing sludge. The particle size of cryptocrystalline graphite is 100 µm, the particle size of the sludge is 3.64 µm. As you can see, the sludge particles are much smaller, so they more easily penetrate into the pores of the mold, forming a penetrating coating layer. At the same time, large particles of graphite cannot penetrate into the pores of the mold, remaining on the surface of the mold and forming the top layer of the coating.
The preparation of the coating can be carried out as follows. Isopropyl alcohol and polyvinyl butyral are poured into the paint mixer, stirred until it is completely dissolved, after which graphite and graphite-containing sludge are loaded and stirring is continued until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
The method of applying the coating and drying it is determined by the manufacturing technology of the mold or rod. The results are compared with the prototype in the table.

The use of the developed coating makes it possible to reduce the burn-on value by 1.1-2.0 times.
