Abstract
Description
The subject of the invention is a multilayer material for the manufacture of flexible packaging with transparent windows, as well as a method of manufacturing such a material.
Multilayer materials are used in the manufacture of flexible packaging. Today, the flexible packaging market represents the most significant segment of the plastic product market. It is estimated that 40% of all plastic products come from flexible packaging. Thanks to modern technologies, flexible packaging is increasingly being used in packaging industrial and agricultural products, however, the most important group of products is food. Packing of this group of products presents a number of specific packaging requirements, which are determined by the nature of the packaged product. Packaging should not only fulfill the functions of protecting the product, but also meet the growing needs of consumers. The main group of materials used in the manufacture of flexible packaging are polyolefins, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, as well as polyester, mainly polyethylene terephthalate (PET). Plastic films are distinguished by their elasticity, strength, lightness, and they are also easy to process and create multilayer laminates with other materials. Due to the combination of various materials, it is possible to obtain a multilayer film with the required characteristics [1]. An inwardly placed barrier layer can provide protection against external factors of influence, as well as prevent leakage of gases or aromas to the outside. Layers of aluminum are often used as a barrier material [2]. In addition to the barrier function, they also provide high-quality protection against light penetration. Also, layers of a copolymer of ethylene with vinyl alcohol, which are characterized by high transparency and a smooth surface, are used as light protection [3]. Additional layers may provide the necessary mechanical, thermal, visual and chemical properties. To improve the readability of inscriptions and the quality of images, coating a film with a layer of paint [4], often white, is very often used. When using opaque films, the packaged product does not interfere with the correct visual perception of printed graphic information. In the case of food products, in particular with a short shelf life, the possibility of a preliminary visual assessment of the product before purchase plays a big role in choosing a product. Therefore, it is very important that a combination of opaque fragments containing sealed packaging areas and transparent fragments allows one to see the contents of the package in one package.
A standard method for the production of such packaging is printing on a transparent film, part of which remains unsealed, resulting in windows [6]. This packaging is imperfect due to poor print quality and high light transmission, which degrades the visual characteristics of the printed image.
Another way is to cut a window in the material and cover it with a transparent laminate of a slightly larger size, which allows you to create a connection. Such a technical solution is known [7], where a transparent element is additionally stamped into the main material for packaging. This solution allows you to precisely mount the window into the package, as well as additionally integrate a rigid element into flexible packaging.
As a prototype for the proposed method, based on a set of common essential features, the method of manufacturing a flexible laminate for packaging [2] can be selected, and as a prototype for the inventive multilayer material for manufacturing a film, a flexible laminate obtained by the above method can be selected.
The objective of the invention is to provide a method for the production of multilayer roll material for the manufacture of flexible packaging with transparent windows, providing a simple and effective combination of an opaque multilayer laminate for the manufacture of packaging with transparent windows.
The problem is solved by the claimed method for the production of multilayer rolled material for the manufacture of flexible packaging with transparent windows, consisting of at least two layers of opaque and transparent, respectively, material. The problem is solved due to the fact that at least on one of the layers of the material indicate the location of future transparent windows. An adhesive layer is applied to at least one of the layers of the material. At least one of the layers of material in the area of the future transparent windows is applied a layer that prevents lamination. Layers of material are laminated to each other. Thus, the layers of material are glued, with the exception of areas where the location of the windows is indicated.
In a number of preferred forms of implementing the inventive method, after the end of the lamination stage in an opaque layer, material is removed in the area of future transparent windows.
Preferred are the forms of implementation of the proposed method, in which the outer side of one of the layers of the material is not corona. The presence of non-corroded surface of the material allows you to store the produced material in the form of a semi-finished product on a spool.
Preferred are also forms of implementation of the proposed method, in which the inner side of one of the layers of the material is corona.
The problem is also solved by the claimed multilayer roll material for the manufacture of flexible packaging with transparent windows, consisting of at least two layers of opaque and transparent, respectively, material. The problem is solved due to the fact that between the layers of materials there is an adhesive layer, at least one of the layers of material indicates the position of the future transparent windows and at least one of the layers of material in the location of the future windows has a layer that prevents lamination, and the opaque layer and the transparent layer are interconnected by lamination.
Preferred are the implementation forms of the claimed material, in which in the area of the transparent windows the layer of opaque material is removed.
The inventive material preferably has a thickness in the range from 12 to 150 microns.
The invention is presented in more detail in FIG. 1, which schematically depicts a method of manufacturing a multilayer roll material for the manufacture of flexible packaging with transparent windows cut out after the lamination process.
(208).In FIG. 1 schematically shows a method for producing a multilayer web material for manufacturing a flexible package with transparent windows cut out after the lamination process. The transparent material (202) is fed into the area of the corona device (206), in which the inner surface of the transparent material (202) is activated. Opaque material (201) is fed into the area (205), where the adhesive layer is applied, and then, in areas where transparent windows are supposed (the stage at which the location areas of future transparent windows are indicated is not shown in the diagram, but can be implemented by specialists in any suitable method), a layer is applied that prevents lamination (209). In the next step, in the area of the shafts (207), the opaque layer with the adhesive coated side (201) is connected to the corona-coated side of the transparent material (202), on which a layer preventing the lamination is applied. The connection results in a laminate with layers of transparent and opaque materials. The material prepared in this way is fed into the area with cutting knives (203), where a fragment of the opaque material (201) is removed, as a result of which transparent windows are obtained in the targeted areas. Finished material with transparent windows is wound on a spool (208).
It should also be noted the fact that there is the possibility of highlighting individual production stages at which semi-finished products are produced. Such semi-finished products can be an opaque film with an applied adhesive layer, a transparent film, corona on one side, etc. In this case, the whole process takes place not on one specialized machine, but on several standard machines that perform certain steps of the production process.
