Abstract

Description

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to an internal frame for a box and to an internal frame for a box for the tobacco industry. The invention also relates to a box containing an inner frame according to the invention.

State of the art

Conventional tobacco industry boxes are generally parallelepiped-shaped boxes having a body portion with an access opening that is reinforced by a support structure protruding from the access opening and the surrounding tobacco industry product, for example, smoking articles, such as cigarettes contained in the box . Typically, the box also includes a lid that is designed to open and close the access opening and continues along the protruding portion of the support structure when the lid is closed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The invention provides an inner frame for a box comprising a front panel and a side panel, wherein the front and / or side panels comprise several layers.

The front and side panels may be formed from a single sheet of material. Preferably, the sheet of material includes fold lines to allow folding of the sheet along the above fold lines to form several layers.

In some embodiments, the inner frame comprises a side panel and a side reinforcing panel, wherein the side reinforcing panel is positioned so that it overlaps the corresponding side panel to form a multilayer side wall.

The side panel can connect to the front panel at the first fold line, and the side reinforcing panel can connect to the side panel at the second fold line.

In some embodiments, the first and second fold lines are parallel to each other. Alternatively, the first and second fold lines may extend at an angle to each other.

In any of the above embodiments, the front panel may include a front reinforcing panel that is connected to the front panel along the fold line of the front panel, wherein the front reinforcing panel is folded along the above fold line of the front panel so that it overlaps the front panel to form a multilayer front wall.

In another embodiment, the front panel comprises a front reinforcing panel that connects to the front panel at the fold line of the front panel, and side reinforcing panels that extend from the front reinforcing panel and are connected to it by the second fold line, wherein the front reinforcing panel folds fold lines of the front panel so that the front reinforcing panel overlaps the front panel and the side reinforcing panels overlap the respective side wall panels to form multiple layers ynyh front and side walls.

The invention also comprises a blank for forming an inner frame of the invention for a box.

The invention also provides a method of forming an inner frame, comprising the steps of ensuring the presence of a preform comprising a front panel, a side panel and a side reinforcing panel, and arranging the side reinforcing panel so that it overlaps the side panel.

The invention also provides an inner frame for a box for the tobacco industry, comprising a front panel and a side panel, the front and / or side panels comprising several layers. The inner frame may contain any of the distinguishing features mentioned above.

The invention also provides a box containing an inner frame according to the invention.

Detailed description

The inner frame of the box for the tobacco industry can increase the stiffness of the box so that the tobacco products contained in it are better protected from mechanical damage. The lid and the inner frame also come into contact due to friction when opening and closing the lid and therefore reduce the risk of accidentally opening the box.

In FIG. 1 shows a box 1, which generally contains a parallelepiped-shaped container having a housing 2 and a hinge cover 3. Box 1 has large front and rear walls 4, 5, small side walls 6, 7, lower wall 8 and upper wall 9 The front, rear and side walls 4, 5, 6, 7 comprise a front, rear and side panels 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a of the housing and a front, rear and side panels 4b, 5b, 6b, 7b of the cover. The hinge cover 3 is completely connected to the housing 2 at the fold hinge line 10 between the rear panel 5a of the housing and the rear panel 5b of the cover and can be rotated between an open position in which an opening 11 for access from above the housing 2 is open for access to tobacco products contained therein, and closed position. Inside the case 2 of the box 1, an inner frame 12 is located, having a front panel 23 and side panels 24, 25 and protruding from the hole 11. The inner frame 12 may include a cutout 22 in the front panel 23 for convenient access to the contents of the box 1.

In FIG. 2 shows a blank 21 used to form the inner frame of FIG. 1. The workpiece 21 contains one sheet of material, such as cardboard, which contains a front panel 23 that converges with the side panels 24, 25 at the first fold line 16, 17. The blank 21 is bent at each fold line 16, 17 and inserted into the housing so that the side panels 24, 25 extend at right angles to the front panel 23. When the inner frame 12 is inserted into the housing 2, the side wall panels 6a, 7a of the housing are adjacent to the side panels 24, 25 of the inner frame, and the front wall panel 4a of the housing is adjacent to the front panel 23 of the inner frame. When the lid 3 is in the closed position, the inner frame 12 is placed in the lid 3, and the front wall panel 4a of the housing is adjacent to the front panel 23 of the inner frame. Similarly, the side wall panels 6b, 7b of the lid are adjacent to the side panels 24, 25 of the inner frame. Therefore, the front panel 23 and the side panels 24, 25 of the inner frame form an additional layer of material around the hole 11 of the box 1 for reinforcing the front, rear and side walls 4, 5, 6, 7.

The side panels 24, 25 of the inner frame 12 also include side reinforcing panels 26, 27 that converge with the respective side panels 24, 25 at the second fold line 18, 19, which extends in a direction parallel to the first fold line 16, 17. The side reinforcing panels 26, 27 are folded at the second fold line 18, 19, so that the main surface of each side reinforcing panel 26, 27 is adjacent to the main surface of the corresponding side surface 24, 25 to form a double layer. The lateral reinforcing panels 26, 27 are preferably folded along the respective second fold lines 18, 19 towards the back of the page, as seen in FIG. 2 so that they are located at the inner surface of the side panels 24, 25, i.e. the surface of each of the side panels 24, 25, which is not visible in FIG. 2. However, the side reinforcing panels 24, 25 can, alternatively, be folded along the corresponding second fold lines 18, 19 in the opposite direction, so that they are located across the front sides of the side panels 24, 25, i.e. those sides of each side panel 24, 25 that are visible in FIG. 2. Side reinforcing panels 26, 27 can be held at the side panels 24, 25 with glue. Using glue can also increase the strength and rigidity of the inner frame.

An additional layer of material provided by the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 at the side panels 24, 25 increases the rigidity and strength of the inner frame 12 and forms a two-layer side wall. Therefore, the contents of the box 1 are better protected from external forces exerted on the box 1. In an embodiment, each side reinforcing panel 26, 27 may cover the entire surface area of the corresponding side panel 24, 25, i.e. each side reinforcing panel 26, 27 may have the same size or shape as the corresponding side panel 24, 25. However, in an alternative embodiment, each side reinforcing panel 26, 27 may have a different size and shape compared to the corresponding side panel 24, 25 and therefore can only overlap a portion of the main surface of the respective side panels 24, 25.

The inner frame 12 may include tabs 20 that extend from the side walls 14, 15 and are in contact with the side wall panels 6b, 7b of the cover when the cover 3 is in the closed position, to increase the friction between the cover 3 and the inner frame 12, although the tabs and are provided at discretion. The increased friction created by the tongues 20 increases the resistance to opening the cover 3, more reliably ensuring that the cover 3 is in the closed position.

It is envisaged that in another embodiment, one or more other side reinforcing panels may extend from the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 and may be separated from the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 by a fold line. The side panels 24, 25, the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 and the additional side reinforcing panels form a multilayer inner frame structure, i.e. a side wall having more than two layers.

The blank 31 for the inner frame 12 of the second embodiment of the invention shown in FIG. 3 is identical to the blank of the first embodiment except that every second fold line 18, 19 extends in a direction perpendicular to the first fold lines 16, 17, with similar elements having the same reference numbers. In this embodiment, the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 are folded towards the back of the page, as seen in FIG. 3, although they can also fold in the opposite direction.

As indicated above with respect to the first embodiment, additional side reinforcing panels may extend from the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 to form a multilayer structure. In addition, a combination of the options shown in FIG. 2 and 3, in which the side reinforcing panel 26, 27 extends from both edges of each side panel 24, 25.

Despite the fact that in the above-described embodiments, the second fold lines 18, 19 are described as extending in a direction perpendicular to or parallel to the first fold lines 16, 17, the second fold lines 18, 19 may alternatively extend at some other angle to the first 16, 17 fold.

In FIG. 4 shows a blank 41 for an inner frame 12 according to a third embodiment. The blank 41 comprises a front panel 23 that converges with the side panels 24, 25 at the first fold lines 42, 43. The blank 41 is folded along each first fold line 42, 43 so that the side panels 24, 25 extend at right angles to the front panel 23. The front reinforcing panel 28 converges with the front panel 23 at the second fold line 44. The front reinforcing panel 28 is folded along the second fold line 44 so that the main surface of the front panel 23 overlaps the front reinforcing panel 28. The blank 41 also includes side reinforcing panels 26, 27 that converge with the front reinforcing panel 28 at the third fold line 45, 46 . The side reinforcing panels 26, 27 are folded along the third fold lines 45, 46 so that the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 overlap the respective panels 24, 25. The side reinforcing panels 26, 27 and / or the front reinforcing panel 28 can be held at the respective side panels 24 25 of the inner frame and / or front panel 23 with glue, which can also increase the rigidity and strength of the inner frame.

The increased thickness created by the front reinforcing panel 28 also increases the rigidity and strength of the inner frame 12 and allows you to get a multilayer front wall. In addition, the increased stiffness and thickness of the inner frame 12 provided by the front reinforcing panel 28 increases the friction between the front panel 21 of the inner frame and the front wall panel 4b of the lid, thereby allowing the lid 3 to remain in the closed position.

It is envisaged that any of the first or second embodiments can also be modified so that the inner frame 12 of these embodiments has a front reinforcing panel 28 that extends from the front panel 23 and which is folded so that it overlaps the front panel 23 by folding along fold lines 44 similar to the fold lines shown in FIG. 4. In these embodiments, the front reinforcing panel 28 does not have lateral reinforcing panels 26, 27 extending from it, as in the case when they extend from the front panel 23 in the embodiment of FIG. 2 and 3.

In the above embodiments, the front reinforcing panel 28 and the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 are held in place by glue, which can also increase the strength and rigidity of the inner frame. However, in alternative embodiments (not shown), they can be held in place by other means, or they can be held in place by the pressure applied to the inner frame by the walls of the box and the tobacco products contained therein.

It is contemplated that the present invention is not limited to both side walls and the front wall of the inner frame containing a two-layer or multi-layer structure. In any of the above embodiments, only one of the side walls can be formed with a two-layer or multi-layer structure. Alternatively, only one of the side walls and the front wall may be formed of several layers or only the front wall may be formed of several layers.

Despite the fact that in the above embodiments, the side reinforcing panels 26, 27 and the front reinforcing panel 28 are integrally formed with the side panels 24, 25 and the front panel 23, respectively, and are positioned by folding, in an alternative embodiment (not shown) side reinforcing panels 26, 27 and / or front reinforcing panel 28 may be separate sections of material that are located at respective side panels 24, 25 and / or at the front panel with glue.

Despite the fact that in the above embodiments, the inner frame 12 is described as an inner frame intended for use in a box with a hinged lid, in alternative embodiments (not shown), the inner frame can be used with other box designs, for example, with sliding boxes or telescopic boxes.

In this context, the term “smoking article” includes products that produce smoke, such as cigarettes, cigars and thin cigarettes, based on tobacco, tobacco derivatives, expanded tobacco, reconstituted tobacco or tobacco substitutes, and also non-combusted tobacco products. The smoking article may be provided with a filter to filter smoke inhaled by the smoker.

In this context, the term “box for the tobacco industry” includes any box in which the tobacco industry product can be placed and contained.

The tobacco industry product refers to any product manufactured and sold by the tobacco industry and includes a) cigarettes, thin cigars, cigars, tobacco for pipes or cigarettes of own manufacture (based on tobacco, tobacco derivatives, expanded tobacco, reconstituted tobacco or substitutes tobacco); b) smokeless products, including tobacco, tobacco derivatives, expanded tobacco, reconstituted tobacco or tobacco substitutes, such as snuff, snus, hard tobacco, and non-combustible tobacco products; and c) other nicotine delivery systems, such as inhalers, lozenges and chewing gums.
