Abstract
Description
FIELD OF TECHNOLOGY
[0001] The present invention generally relates to dispensers, and more specifically to dispensers for napkins and other paper products, as well as to methods for dispensing such products.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] Retailers and, in particular, catering establishments such as cafeterias, culinary shops and fast food restaurants selling food products, usually provide paper products along with food products sold. These paper products, such as napkins or paper towels, are provided so that customers can wipe their hands and face during and / or after consuming the food they purchase.
[0003] Dispensers of paper products are known. Conventional dispensers typically comprise an inside for storing paper products and a dispensing opening through which paper products can be removed from the inside. To allow users to retrieve paper products, dispensers of this type must be positioned in a certain way. This, first of all, concerns dispensers, the design of which involves a dispensing hole on the side, and not at the top of the dispenser. To increase the number of useful orientations of dispensers, dispensers having more than one dispensing opening are offered on the market. For example, dispensers having two such dispensing openings are known. But conventional dispensers of this type are quite complex and often contain internal components that limit the capacity of the dispenser.
[0004] Accordingly, it is desirable to provide dispensers and dispensing methods for paper products that would help to eliminate these and other disadvantages characteristic of conventional dispensers of the types described above.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0005] In one embodiment, a paper product dispenser is provided. The dispenser comprises a plurality of walls defining the inside of the dispenser, the inside being configured to store paper products. Two metering holes are located in opposite walls of each other and are configured to provide access to paper products in the interior. The dispenser also contains a biasing element and a pair of support elements in the inner part. The support elements are configured to support the product, and the biasing element pushes each support element to one of the metering holes. The dispenser has a geometric center defined by the distance between the dispensing openings, and each of the support elements is arranged to move outward towards one of the dispensing openings and inward away from one of the dispensing openings. At least one of the support elements can move freely in the internal direction, reaching at least a geometric center.
Alternatively or additionally, the biasing element may be mutually connected to each of the supporting elements. In certain embodiments, each of the support elements is a pinch roller. The plurality of walls may include an upper wall, a lower wall, and a pair of end walls extending between the upper and lower walls, the dispensing holes being located in the end walls. Additionally, at least a portion of the upper wall may be in a first position defining an opening for loading paper products into the inner part, and in a second, closed position. This part of the upper wall can be pivotally interconnected with the rest of the dispenser so that this part can be rotated between the first and second positions.
[0007] The plurality of walls may also include a pair of side walls that extend between the upper and lower walls and between the end walls. Each of the supporting elements can freely move inward, reaching at least a geometric center. Additionally or alternatively, each of the support elements can freely move inwardly further from the geometric center. In certain embodiments, the interior includes a first holding container for storing paper products, the first holding container being provided between one of the support elements and one of the metering openings. In these separate embodiments, the interior also comprises a second holding container for storing paper products, the second holding container being provided between the second of the support elements and the second of the metering holes. The sum of the first and second holding tanks determines the total holding capacity of the dispenser.
[0008] In these separate embodiments, at least one of the supporting elements can be selectively moved within the dispenser so that at least one of the first or second holding containers comprises about 50% or more of the total holding capacity of the dispenser. Additionally, each of the supporting elements can be selectively moved within the dispenser so that each of the first and second holding containers varies from about 0% to more than 50% of the total holding capacity of the dispenser. In other individual embodiments, the biasing element is configured to detach from each of the plurality of walls. In other embodiments, the biasing element is also adapted to detach from the support elements.
[0009] In another embodiment, a paper product dispenser is provided. Two dispensing openings are located in opposed walls, the dispensing openings being configured to provide access to paper products in the interior. The inner part comprises a first holding container for storing paper products, the first holding container being provided between one of the support elements and one of the metering openings. The interior also includes a second holding container for storing paper products, the second holding container being provided between the second of the supporting elements and the second of the metering holes. The sum of the first and second holding tanks determines the total holding capacity of the dispenser. In this embodiment, at least one of the support elements can be selectively moved within the dispenser so that at least one of the first or second holding containers comprises at least about 50% of the total holding capacity of the dispenser.
[00010] The dispenser may further comprise a biasing element located between the supporting elements in order to push each of the supporting elements to the corresponding one of the metering holes. In a separate embodiment, each of the support elements can selectively move within the dispenser so that each of the first and second holding containers varies from about 0% to at least 50% of the total holding capacity of the dispenser. Additionally, each of the support elements can be selectively moved within the dispenser so that each of the first and second holding containers varies from about 0% to 100% of the total holding capacity of the dispenser.
[00011] In yet another embodiment, a tissue dispenser is provided. The dispenser comprises an upper wall, a lower wall located opposite the upper wall, first and second end walls located opposite each other and passing between the upper and lower walls, and a pair of side walls located opposite each other and passing between the upper and lower walls. Unless otherwise indicated and if there are no corresponding restrictions, the terms “installed”, “connected”, “supported” and “mutually connected” and their modifications are used in a broad sense and encompass both direct and indirect installations, connections, supports and mutual connections . Also, the meaning of the terms “connected” and “interconnected” is not limited to physical or mechanical connections or mutual connections.
[00025] According to the figures, namely FIG. 1, an
10.[00027] Furthermore, according to FIG. 1, and also according to FIG. 1A and 1B, the
[00028] Again according to FIG. 1 as well as FIG. 2-4,
30, 32.[00029] A biasing element, such as a spring or other device, pushes the
10.[00030] In particular, as shown in FIG. 3 and 4, the space between the
20a, 22a.[00031] Wipes N in one or both of the holding containers V 1 , V 2 exert an inward pressure on one or both of the supporting
[00032] Furthermore, according to FIG. 3 and 4, and also according to FIG. 5, the smooth movement of the
30, 32.[00033] The distance between the
20, 22.[00035] Furthermore, according to FIG. 3-5, and also according to FIG. 6-8, the adaptability of the
22a.[00036] FIG. 6 and 7 show two illustrative respective positions of the
[00037] In the embodiments of FIG. 2-8, both
10.[00038] Although FIG. 1-8 generally describe a
