05.07.1996].A device for determining the location of treatment and diagnostic shells in the pipeline, including a receiver and a transmitter of electromagnetic signals, the transmitter is mounted on a shell and contains an autonomous power source and a radiating antenna. The antenna signals of the transmitter are picked up by the antenna of the portable receiver located above the pipeline on the ground surface, the output of which is connected via an amplifier-converter to a monitoring and indication device [RF Patent No. 21 10729, cl. 06.05.1997].Closest to the claimed invention but with a combination of essential features - a prototype - is a device for monitoring the movement of treatment facilities in pipelines, containing a series-connected receiving transducer of acoustic vibrations generated by the object into an electrical signal, and an analysis unit [RF Patent No. 2137977, cl. F17D 5/02, priority dated 05/06/1997].
The disadvantage of the prototype is its lack of effectiveness, due to the low detection range and poor spatial resolution associated with the resolution of the receiver.
The objective of the invention is to increase the efficiency of monitoring the movement of treatment facilities in pipelines.
The technical result of the invention is to increase the range and increase the accuracy of detection and registration of the position of the controlled object in the pipeline.
The claimed technical result is achieved by the fact that in the device for controlling the movement of an object in a pipeline containing a series-connected receiving transducer of acoustic vibrations generated by the object into an electrical signal and an analysis unit, the receiving transducer is made in the form of a coherent reflectometer containing an optical source, a fiber optic cable, designed to installation along the pipeline as a distributed acoustic vibration sensor, and a scattered radiation receiver, etc. and this optical fiber cable is made from a combination of series-connected segments of optical fibers arranged so that the Rayleigh scattering coefficient of each subsequent segment, starting from the optical source, is greater than the Rayleigh scattering coefficient of the previous segment, in addition, the device is additionally equipped with an autonomous vibration or acoustic source oscillations in the range from 10 Hz to 5 kHz, intended for installation on the site.
The invention is illustrated in the drawing - installation diagram of a device for monitoring the movement of an object in a pipeline relative to the latter, where 1 is a pipeline; 2 - coherent reflectometer containing an optical source (not shown), a scattered radiation receiver (not shown) and fiber optic cable 3, intended for installation along the pipeline as a distributed sensor of acoustic vibrations; 4 - processing unit.
1.The device operates as follows. When a treatment, diagnostic or other controlled object (not shown) moves in the pipeline 1, acoustic radiation occurs due to the collision of the object with the pipeline wall, throttling of the liquid through the gap between the object and the pipeline wall or from an autonomous source of vibration or acoustic vibrations (not shown), installed on object. The coordinate of the sound source along the pipe 1 is recorded by the receiving transducer - OTDR 2, namely its distributed sensor of acoustic vibrations - a sensitive element in the form of fiber optic cable 3 as follows. The optical source of the OTDR 2 sends optical pulses to the measuring fiber-optic cable 3 located along the pipeline 1. In the cable 3, periodic elongations and compression of the fiber occur under the action of acoustic radiation, leading to modulation of the scattering coefficient. The scattered radiation enters the receiver of the OTDR 2, is converted into an electrical signal, and gets into the processing unit 4. The processing unit 4 forms a sequence of reflectograms and comparing pairs or more successive reflectograms determines the place of acoustic impact, i.e. the location of the object in the pipeline 1.
It has been experimentally established that the range of an OTDR 2 with a measuring fiber optic cable 3 made of a homogeneous fiber is limited by the fact that the power P (x) of the radiation scattered in the measuring fiber optic cable 3 falling on the scattered radiation receiver of the OTDR 2 decreases with distance x according to the exponential law:
Р(х)=PInexp(-2γx)R,P (x) = P In exp (-2γx) R,
3,where P In is the power of the testing optical pulses at the entrance to the fiber optic cable 3,
γ - коэффициент затухания света в волокне,γ is the attenuation coefficient of light in the fiber,
R is the Rayleigh scattering coefficient.
For the OTDR 2 to work, it is necessary that the power P (x) exceed some critical value P KR (the minimum radiation power at which OTDR 2 registers the reflected signal).
In modern fibers, the main source of loss is Rayleigh scattering, therefore, there is a relationship between the Rayleigh scattering coefficient R and the light attenuation coefficient in the fiber γ: γ also increases with increasing R. Therefore, the use of a fiber with a higher Rayleigh scattering coefficient R and, therefore, with a large attenuation value γ leads to an increase in the power P (x) at the very beginning of the fiber optic cable 3, but leads to a more rapid decrease in the power P (x) with increasing x. As a rule, the maximum operating range of the OTDR 2 is achieved by using fibers with the smallest attenuation. Replacing it with a fiber with a large value of the Rayleigh scattering coefficient often leads to a decrease in the range of its operation.
Through the use of a combined fiber-optic cable 3, consisting of sequentially arranged sections of fiber with an increasing coefficient of Rayleigh scattering, it is possible to increase the operating range of the device. In the manufacture of the first section of the maximum possible length L 1 , when the power P (L 1 ) is equal to P KR , joining a fiber with a higher Rayleigh reflection coefficient increases the power of the reflected signal to the level P KR · (R 2 / R 1 ). The result is an increase in range by the length L 2 , which can be determined from the condition: (R 2 / R 1 ) · exp (-2γ 2 L 2 ) = 1 and, therefore, provides an increase in the range of the sensor.
Еще больше увеличить дальность работы рефлектометра позволяет использование на втором участке волокна, коэффициент затухания которого изменяется вдоль волокна по следующему закону (х - координата вдоль волокна):The use of a fiber in the second section of fiber, the attenuation coefficient of which varies along the fiber according to the following law (x - coordinate along the fiber), allows to further increase the range of the OTDR:
На первом участке распределенного датчика в качестве чувствительного элемента используется волокно, коэффициент затухания которого имеет минимально возможное постоянное значение γ0.In the first section of the distributed sensor, a fiber is used as a sensing element, the attenuation coefficient of which has the lowest possible constant value of γ 0 .
The accuracy of determining the position and operating range of the device can also be increased by equipping the controlled object (treatment or diagnostic) with a vibration source and / or acoustic vibrations in the range from 10 Hz to 5 kHz.
In addition, other additional tricks to increase the efficiency of the device, characteristic of coherent reflectometers, some of which are described below, can be used.
To increase the range of the device allows the use of distributed Raman (Raman) amplification when connecting a fiber optic cable with a source of continuous optical radiation, the frequency of which is higher than the radiation frequency of a pulsed optical source by 13 ± 7 THz. In this case, continuous optical radiation provides amplification of both the pulsed signal propagating in the forward direction along the fiber optic cable and the scattered radiation propagating in the opposite direction.
To increase the range of the device allows the use of an erbium amplifier with remote pumping. In this case, the sensing element of the receiving transducer in the form of a fiber optic cable contains one or more sections of the active optical fiber, the active optical fiber being connected to a pump radiation source. The first section of active fiber is located after one or more sections of the passive fiber. Since in passive fibers the radiation power of a pulsed optical source decreases, and in addition, the power of backscattered radiation decreases, the amplitude of the recorded signal also decreases and this limits the range of the device. The remote-pumped erbium amplifier provides amplification of both the light pulse and the backscattered radiation, thereby increasing the amplitude of the recorded signal. Since the signal amplitude has grown, this thereby provides the possibility of increasing the cable length by attaching another section of the passive fiber.
Based on the foregoing, we can conclude that the claimed technical result - increasing the range and improving the accuracy of detection and registration of the position of the controlled object in the pipeline - is achieved.
