Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of powder metallurgy and can be used to protect heat-loaded units and structural elements of propulsion systems from thermal and erosive destruction in a jet of high-temperature products of fuel combustion, including containing condensed phase.
There are various methods of plasma spraying erosion-resistant heat-resistant coatings (ETZP). One of them is the application of a heat-protective coating to the surface to be protected, containing a metal sublayer with a thickness of 80 ÷ 120 μm from a heat-resistant alloy, for example, nichrome and the main heat-protective layer of zirconium dioxide (ZrO 2 ) with a thickness of 150 ÷ 200 μm (see, e.g., OS 92-1406-68 "Coatings erosion-resistant non-metallic"). The disadvantage of this method is that the resulting coatings have low values of tear strength and heat resistance (σ A ~ 3.5 ÷ 4.5 MPa, n ~ 6 ÷ 8 cycles) and do not provide the health of heat-loaded units under conditions of repeated exposure to high-temperature gas flows of combustion products .
Недостатком известного способа является то, что он не обеспечивает необходимый ресурс работы теплонагруженных элементов конструкции пусковых устройств, подвергающихся воздействию содержащих конденсированную фазу (Al2O3) продуктов сгорания ракетных двигателей на твердом топливе (ТТ).A known method of applying erosion-resistant heat-protective coatings (ETZP) (see patent for the invention No. 2283363), adopted as a prototype, in which the increase in the service characteristics of plasma coatings is achieved by spraying a sublayer of nichrome and cermet composition containing 50 ÷ 80 wt.% Zirconia and 50 ÷ 20 wt.% Nichrome, while the cermet composition is prepared from zirconia and nichrome powders with a particle size of 10 ÷ 40 μm and 40 ÷ 100 μm, respectively. The disadvantage of this method is that it does not provide the necessary service life of the heat-loaded structural elements of the starting devices that are exposed to the condensed phase (Al 2 O 3 ) products of the combustion of solid propellant rocket engines (TT).
The objective of the present invention is to increase the resistance of coatings to thermal erosion destruction, namely, to the condensed phase containing combustion products of a mixed solid fuel.
дисперсностью 40÷63 мкм при толщине слоя 100÷150 мкм и дополнительно напыляют слой диоксида гафния толщиной 200÷250 мкм, при этом в качестве стабилизирующей добавки в порошке диоксида гафния используют оксид иттрия, содержание которого составляет величину 7÷10 мол.%.The problem is achieved in that in the method of applying erosion-resistant heat-protective coatings, including plasma spraying a nichrome sublayer and a cermet composition based on refractory metal dioxide and a nickel-containing material, according to the invention, a mechanical mixture of an equivolume composition of hafnium dioxide powders with a dispersion of 10 ÷ 63 μm and Nickel plated tungsten with a nickel content of 6 ÷ 10% of the mass. fineness of 40 ÷ 63 μm with a layer thickness of 100 ÷ 150 μm and an additional layer of hafnium dioxide with a thickness of 200 ÷ 250 μm is additionally sprayed, while yttrium oxide is used as a stabilizing additive in hafnium dioxide powder, the content of which is 7 ÷ 10 mol%.
The essence of the proposed method of plasma spraying ETZP is as follows. Sandblasting of the surface of the products is carried out, exposed to high-temperature products of fuel combustion. As the abrasive material using silicon carbide or electrocorundum. The dispersion of the abrasive and the air pressure in the sandblasting line should ensure a surface roughness of R z not lower than 40 microns. After sandblasting, the surface is blown with clean compressed air, degreased with acetone and dehydrated with ethyl alcohol. Next, plasma spraying of the nichrome sublayer is performed. The plasma spraying regimes and particle size distribution of the used nichrome powder should ensure the formation of a sublayer with a thickness of 70 ÷ 90 μm, which is optimal to achieve the required level of adhesive strength of this type of ETZP. After deposition of the sublayer, plasma spraying of the intermediate cermet and outer ceramic layers is successively carried out using hafnium dioxide and tungsten dioxide plated with nickel. The composition and structure of ETZP, as well as the thickness of its layers, were selected on the basis of evaluative mathematical calculations to determine the unsteady temperature conditions of heat-protective coatings and adjusted in the process of testing the method on a model bench. ETZP model bench tests were carried out using full-charge mixed-fuel charges, and the criterion for the correct choice of thermal loading modes was the correspondence between the values of thermoerosive fracture of model samples without heat-shielding coatings and real ablation during the operation of standard products. Metallographic studies of the ETZP state after model bench tests showed that when the coating characteristics by composition and thickness are exceeded for the indicated intervals (equivolume composition, cermet layer thickness 100 ÷ 150 μm, HfO 2 layer - 200 ÷ 250 μm), a local overheating of any layers of the coating or surface to be protected and, as a result, the destruction of the entire coating as a whole.
The choice of the specified particle size distribution and the mass content of nickel in the form of a cladding shell in a tungsten powder for plasma formation of the cermet composition of HfO 2 and W Ni powders is due to the need to obtain the required thermophysical characteristics of this layer and to ensure stability and reproducibility of the deposition process in terms of the ratio of ceramic and metal components (phase composition) in the cermet composition HfO 2 -W Ni . When the mass content of nickel is less than 6–10%, intense tungsten oxidation occurs in the plasma jet, which leads to an uncontrolled change in the phase composition of the cermet layer; a higher nickel content causes a deterioration in the thermophysical properties of this layer in terms of reducing the allowable working temperature.
It is known that hafnium dioxide has polymorphic transformations accompanied by a change in volume, which, obviously, negatively affects the heat resistance of coatings operating under the influence of combustion products of mixed rocket fuel. To eliminate this phenomenon, additives (MgO, CaO, Y 2 O 3 , etc.) are introduced into HfO 2 , which stabilize the cubic form of hafnium dioxide with a fluorite-type structure.
19, №10, 1689 (1983)).The proposed method for the preparation of ETZP was developed for yttrium stabilized HfO 2 powder, since in this system (HfO 2 -Y 2 O 3 ) a fairly wide area of existence of solid cubic solutions was recorded (see, for example, A.V. Shevchenko, L.M. Lopato et al., Izv. AN SSSR, inorgan. Mat., 23, No. 3, 452 (1987); VB Glushkova, N.I. Markov et al., Izv. AN SSSR, inorgan. 19, No. 10, 1689 (1983)).
Y2O3.During the experimental testing of the method, coatings based on HfO 2 powder stabilized at 7 ÷ 10 and 15 ÷ 20 mol% were considered. yttrium oxide. It was found that with the indicated granular composition of the initial powders and the thicknesses of the structural components of ETZP, the coatings obtained using hafnium dioxide powder containing 7–10 mol% have the best thermal erosion resistance. Y 2 O 3 .
Examples
Транспортировку порошков и порошковых смесей к распылителю осуществляли роторным питателем марки ДПР-1.Model samples of heat-loaded product units made of steel 12X18H10T were subjected to sandblasting with 54C grade silicon carbide. The compressed air pressure in the line was 5.5 atm. After sandblasting, the surface was degreased with acetone and rubbed with ethyl alcohol. A nichrome sublayer (NiCr), a cermet composition (HfO 2 -W Ni ) and a layer of hafnium dioxide (HfO 2 ) were deposited using a UPU-3D plasma unit complete with an UPR-2M spray gun. Powders and powder mixtures were transported to the atomizer using a DPR-1 rotary feeder.
80-56-26 according to GOST 13084-80 was used for spraying the sublayer. Nickel plating of tungsten powder was carried out by the decomposition of carbonyls; the mass content of nickel in the tungsten powder was 6–10%. The required powder fractions were isolated by a sieve method in combination with hydroclassification (for HfO 2 powder). The preparation of cermet mixtures was performed on a device for shaking 022. The spraying modes of the cermet layer and the hafnium dioxide layer are:
- плазмообразующий газ - смесь Ar+H2;- plasma-forming gas - a mixture of Ar + H 2 ;
- ток дуги, I, А - 420±20;- arc current, I, A - 420 ± 20;
- напряжение на дуге, Uд, В - 90±5;- voltage across the arc, U d , V - 90 ± 5;
- расход газа (Ar) на транспортировку порошка, л/мин - 4÷5.- gas consumption (Ar) for powder transportation, l / min - 4 ÷ 5.
Before spraying ETZP on model samples of heat-loaded product units, the thicknesses of the structural components of the coating on technological samples were selected by varying the flow characteristics of the DPR-1 powder feeder and the speed of movement of the UPR-2M plasma sprayer relative to the sprayed surface.
To obtain comparative data, a plasma deposition of ETZP was carried out in parallel on model samples of heat-loaded nodes from the same steel in a known manner.
The generalized and systematic results of comparative tests of coatings on a model stand according to the known and proposed methods, as well as the results of ETZP tests according to the known method with an additional layer of zirconium dioxide, are presented in Table 1. In addition, the table shows the results of bench tests of composite ETZP based on zirconia and nichrome powders with particle size distribution according to the proposed method:
ZrO2 - 10-63 мкм; NiCr - 40÷63 мкм.ZrO 2 - 10-63 microns; NiCr - 40 ÷ 63 μm.
From table 1 it is seen that the effectiveness of the proposed method of coating compared with the known above in 1.7 ÷ 2.5 times.
As noted earlier, the particle size distribution of the starting powder materials for the plasma formation of the intermediate layer, as well as the mass content of nickel in the tungsten powder, determine the phase composition of this structural component of ETZP.
Table 2 shows the test results for studying the effect of the phase composition of the cermet composition and layer thicknesses on the life of the heat-shielding package.
№2).Table 3 presents data on an experimental study of the effect on the phase composition of the intermediate cermet layer of the dispersion of hafnium dioxide and tungsten dioxide powders, as well as the mass content of nickel in tungsten powder in the form of a cladding shell. The criterion for the selection of the listed features was the correspondence of the phase composition of the intermediate layer to the composition of the initial mechanical mixture for its plasma spraying. As the initial mechanical mixture for the formation of ETZP, we used a mixture according to the proposed method — the equivolume content of HfO 2 and W Ni powders. Table 3 shows that non-compliance with the requirements for the dispersion of the powders, as well as the nickel content of tungsten powder, does not allow to obtain the required phase composition of the intermediate layer and, therefore, to achieve the objective of the invention (see paragraph 3 of table. No. 2).
