Abstract
Description
The invention relates to hardening of the surface layers of machine parts and can be used to increase the wear resistance of metal surfaces.
[1].Known methods of mechanical hardening of the surface layers of metals and alloys, based on surface plastic deformation, in which the increase in mechanical characteristics is achieved due to hardening, grinding of grains, the formation of a favorable structure and residual stresses in the surface layer [1].
The main disadvantage of mechanical hardening is a decrease in the corrosion resistance of metal surfaces.
As a prototype, the selected method of hardening the surfaces of parts by diffusion molecular reinforcement [2]. This method of hardening the surfaces of parts consists in subjecting the treated surface to cold plastic deformation by continuously supplying a radical-forming substance to the deformation zone until a predetermined hardening value of the material of the surface layer is achieved, then the part is heated to the temperature of the chemical modification of the radical-forming substance, at which the destruction of its molecules begins , and maintain the part at a given temperature with a continuous supply of a radical-forming substance for the time required for the saturation limit radicals hardenable surface layer.
The disadvantage of this method is the oxidation of a radical-forming substance with the formation of secondary films (varnishes, deposits), which are not eliminated even with the introduction of antioxidant additives. Varnishes, soot pollute the surface and require additional operations to remove them. In addition, this method due to the partial oxidation of radicals does not ensure their full interaction with the surface, which does not allow to achieve the maximum anti-corrosion effect.
The technical result of the present invention is to improve the purity and corrosion resistance of metal surfaces.
The technical result is achieved by the fact that the treated surface is subjected to cold plastic deformation with continuous supply of a radical-forming substance into the deformation zone until a predetermined hardening value of the surface layer material is achieved. Then, the chemical-thermal treatment of the part is carried out by heating the part to the temperature of the chemical modification of the radical-forming substance, at which the destruction of its molecules begins, and the part is held at this temperature with a continuous supply of the radical-forming substance for the time necessary for the radicals to saturate to the maximum the hardened surface layer, while before heating the parts in a chamber, create a vacuum or inject protective gas nitrogen, after which the parts are heated, and the radical forming substance is a mineral oil.
The claimed method of processing the surface layers of steel parts of machines is carried out in the following steps.
1. Produce cold surface plastic deformation of the workpiece by any conventional method (rolling by ball, roller, vibratory rolling, etc.) in a medium of a radical-forming substance. At this stage, a favorable texture, microrelief is formed, activation and mechanical hardening of the surface layer occurs, as well as partial saturation of the surface with radicals formed during the mechanical destruction of the molecules of the radical-forming substance in the contact zone of the indenter (ball, roller) with the surface. In addition, during plastic deformation of the surface layer, a large number of dislocations are formed, which contribute to the introduction of radicals in the next stage of processing.
2. Place the workpiece in a chamber in which a vacuum is created or nitrogen is introduced into the protective gas. In this case, the radicals formed during the thermal degradation of a radical-forming substance (for example, mineral oil) do not oxidize on the surface without the access of oxygen to form varnishes and deposits and in a larger volume react with the material of the surface layer, which ensures surface cleanliness and increased surface layer strength.
3. With a continuous supply of a radical-forming substance, the workpiece is heated to a temperature close to the temperature of the chemical modification of this substance, at which the destruction of the molecules begins, and active centers appear - radicals, which are separate fragments of the original molecule with incomplete atomic bonds. In addition, heating promotes intense interaction of radicals with the treated surface. In this case, the bulk of the radicals penetrates the surface layer, strengthening it, and the unreacted part of the radicals evaporates from the surface, leaving no impurities. The speed and method of heating the part must ensure uniform and quick heating of the surface, so as not to cause tempering of the metal.
As a result of the described method, the hardness and corrosion resistance of the metal surface are increased, while the treated part does not require subsequent cleaning.
Example. Cylindrical samples ⌀30 mm long 100 mm from steel 40X in the amount of 10 pcs. in the annealed state, they were subjected to cold plastic deformation by smoothing the cylindrical surface with a ball of steel ШХ-15 in a medium of a radical-forming liquid (mineral oil I-12A). Then, one part of the samples was placed in a container having taps in the walls for supplying a protective gas (nitrogen) medium to it, and the container was placed in an oven. The second part was put in the oven next to the container. Heated the furnace to a temperature of 220 ° C, continuously passing through the container nitrogen with an excess pressure of 0.1 atm. After holding the samples in the oven for 30 minutes, all samples were removed from the oven and cooled in air. After the treatment, the appearance of the samples was compared, the microhardness of the surface layer was evaluated by the Vickers method, and corrosion tests were performed according to GOST 308-85 in a salt spray chamber using a solution of sodium chloride. Tests have shown that when heated in a protective gas medium, the surface is not covered with a dark film, has a microhardness (380 kgf / mm 2 ) 23% higher than when hardened in air (309 kgf / mm 2 ). A similar processing of samples carried out in a vacuum furnace showed an increase in the hardness of the surface layer to 395 kgf / mm 2 . A comparison of corrosion resistance showed that on untreated surfaces after 12 hours intense corrosion was observed, and on the treated surfaces corrosion points appeared after 48 hours. Thus, the tests confirmed the claimed effect.
