Abstract

SUBSTANCE: package consists of the first container having open end and hinged lid having closed and open position connected with first container. In this context when the lid is in closed position the first container is of parallelepiped shape and contains top and bottom walls, front and rear big side walls, two smaller side walls, four longitudinal edges each of which is formed by big side wall and smaller side wall, and eight lateral edges each of which is formed by top or bottom and side wall. At that inside the first container there is second container for tobacco goods; it may slide along the first container between inserted position when the second container is wholly inside the first one and extended position when part of the second container is extended from the first one and protrudes from the open end of the first container. The second container is essentially of parallelepiped shape and contains top and bottom walls, front and rear big side walls, two smaller side walls, four longitudinal edges each of which is formed by big side wall and smaller side wall, and eight lateral edges each of which is formed by top or bottom and side wall. Lid hinge is parallel to longitudinal edges and lid contains top wall, part of big side walls and smaller side wall with top wall of the second container having open sector intended for extraction of tobacco goods from the second container when the second container is in extended position. At that the open sector of the top wall of the second container is fully covered by top wall of the first container when the second container is in the inserted position and it is open when the second container is in the extended position.

EFFECT: efficient protection of cigarettes inside the package, cost-saving and simple manufacturing.

Description

The present invention relates to rigid packaging for tobacco products.

The present invention can be used in a particularly advantageous manner in a rigid cigarette pack, to which the description below is given solely as an example.

A rigid cigarette pack typically comprises a cup-shaped lower container having an open upper end and a cup-shaped upper cover pivotally connected to the container along the hinge to rotate relative to the container between the open position and the closed position, thereby opening and closing the open end of the lower container. When the lid is in the closed position, the pack has a substantially parallelepiped shape and contains two, respectively, upper and lower end walls and a side surface delimited by the end walls and formed by two front and rear, respectively, large side walls and two small side walls . Four longitudinal edges are formed between the small side walls and the large side walls, eight transverse edges that are smaller than the longitudinal edges and are formed between the side walls and the end walls, and the hinge of the cover is formed in the rear wall and parallel to the transverse edges formed between the rear wall and the end walls.

Rigid, push-open cigarette packs are also known, such as those described in FR 2499947 A3, US 4534463 A1 or US-5080227-A1. The rigid, openable cigarette pack contains a first container that is designed to accommodate a group of cigarettes wrapped in a foil sheet, and which, in turn, is placed inside the second container so that it slides relative to the second container between the inserted position in which the first container is fully inserted inside the second container, and an extended position in which a portion of the first container is extended from the second container. Each container has a substantially parallelepipedal shape and contains two end walls and a side surface delimited by the end walls and formed by side walls separated from each other by corresponding rectangular (forming a right angle) longitudinal edges.

US-6360943-B1 discloses a box with a hinged lid for cigarettes, comprising a box part and a lid pivotally connected thereto. In the area of the front wall of the box and the front wall of the lid, the box part and the lid form transversely directed closing edges, namely, the closing edge of the lid and the mating closing edge; these closing edges have a V-shape with different angles between the interconnected sides of the edge, resulting in a V-shaped hole or hole with a shape similar to the tip of the arrow.

WO-0034150-A1 discloses a cigarette box made with a hinged lid and consisting of a box part and a lid, the front wall of the lid and the front wall of the box form opposite closing edges, i.e. a closing edge of the lid and an opposite closing edge. The said closing edges are separated from each other so that a part of the frame (collar), i.e. the front wall of the frame, is visible in the field of view of a different shape or in the gap.

WO-9965796-A1 discloses a box with a hinged lid for cigarettes or the like, comprising a box part, a lid and a frame which is located in the box part and protrudes from it by the upper part of the frame, the lid enclosing the upper part of the frame in the closed position; on the inner side of the front wall of the lid is fixed an internal tab of the lid, which only in the area of the lateral edge has a recess that provides interlocking in order to match in shape with a protrusion in the region of the front wall of the frame when the lid is closed.

Despite the fact that hard cigarette packs of the above type are marketed because they are relatively easy to manufacture and are generally popular among smokers, these packs cannot provide effective protection for cigarettes inside the pack, which manifests itself in the fact that when carrying the pack in the user's pocket the lid of the pack with a hinged lid, and the inner container of the pack opened by extension, have a tendency to open, which leads to the loss of cigarettes.

The objective of the present invention is to provide a rigid packaging for tobacco products, which is designed to eliminate the above disadvantages and which, in particular, is inexpensive and easy to manufacture.

In accordance with the task, the present invention provides a rigid packaging for tobacco products, which contains a first container having an open end, and a lid pivotally connected to the first container to rotate between the open position and the closed position, respectively opening and closing the open end; however, when the lid is in the closed position, the first container has a substantially parallelepipedal shape and contains two, respectively, upper and lower end walls and a side surface delimited by the end walls and containing two, respectively, front and rear, large side walls, two small side walls, four longitudinal edges, each of which is formed between the larger side wall and the small side wall, and eight transverse edges, each of which is formed between the end wall and the side wall, etc. and the lid is pivotally attached along the hinge formed in the rear wall and essentially parallel to the longitudinal edges, and the lid contains part of the end walls, part of the large side walls and a small side wall, and the package is characterized in that it contains a second container, which is designed to accommodate tobacco products and which is placed inside the first container with the possibility of sliding relative to the first container between the inserted position, in which the second container is fully inserted inside the first container, and an extended position in which a portion of the second container is released from the first container and projects from the open end of the first container.

A number of non-limiting embodiments of the present invention will be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:

Reference numeral 1 in the drawings denotes a generally rigid cigarette pack designed to accommodate an ordered group of 2 cigarettes wrapped in a foil sheet and containing a cup-shaped container 3 having an open end 4. The cup-shaped lid 5 is connected to the container 3 and pivotally connected to the container 3 along the hinge 6 (shown in FIGS. 3 and 5) for rotation relative to the container 3 between the open position (FIG. 2) and the closed position (FIG. 1), respectively opening and closing the open end 4.

When the lid 5 is in the closed position, the container 3 has the form of a substantially rectangular parallelepiped containing a side surface and two identical flat, upper and lower, end walls 7 and 8, facing each other and parallel to each other and bounding the side surface . The lateral surface of the container 3 contains two flat, facing each other, parallel small side walls 9 and two flat, facing each other, large side walls 10, 11 extending transversely to the small side walls 9. More precisely, one large side wall 10 forms the front wall of the container 3, and the other large side wall 11 forms the rear wall of the container 3.

Four longitudinal edges 12 are formed between small side walls 9 and large side walls 10, 11, and eight transverse edges 13 are formed between end walls 7, 8 and side walls 9, 10, 11, extend transversely to longitudinal edges 12 and are divided into large transverse edges 13 formed between end walls 7, 8 and large side walls 10, 11, and small transverse edges 13 formed between end walls 7, 8 and small side walls 9.

More precisely, the hinge 6 is formed in the rear larger side wall 11 and is parallel to the longitudinal edges 12 of the container 3, so that the lid 5 contains part of the end walls 7, 8, part of the large side walls 10, 11 and the small side wall 9 of the container 3.

The additional container 14, in which the cigarette group 2 is placed, is slidably placed inside the container 3 and smoothly moves relative to the container 3 between the inserted position (FIG. 1), in which the container 14 is fully inserted inside the container 3, and the extended position (FIG. 2) , in which part of the container 14 is extended from the container 3 and protrudes from the open end 4 of the container 3.

The container 14 has the shape of a parallelepiped and contains an upper end wall 15, a lower end wall 16 and a side surface that is bounded by the end walls 15 and 16 and which contains two opposite, parallel large side walls 17 and two opposite parallel small small side walls 18, separated from large the side walls 17 with four longitudinal edges 19. The side walls 17 and 18 of the container 14 are separated from the end walls 15 and 16 by eight transverse edges 20, which are divided into four large transverse edges 20 between large the side walls 17 and the end walls 15 and 16 and the four small transverse edges 20 between the small side walls 18 and the end walls 15 and 16.

The upper end wall 15 of the container 14 contains an open portion 21, which also extends along part of the large side walls 17 and allows the removal of cigarettes from the container 14 when the container 14 is in the specified extended position (figure 2). More specifically, cigarettes in the cigarette group 2 inside the container 14 are parallel to the longitudinal edges 19 of the container 14 and therefore parallel to the longitudinal edges 12 of the container 3.

The longitudinal edges 19 of the container 14 are rounded edges, that is, each edge 19 is formed by a fourth part of the cylindrical surface for connecting the respective side walls 17 and 18 with a constant radius of curvature (preferably slightly larger than the radius of the cigarette), and the transverse edges 20 of the container 14 and all edges 12 and 13 of the container 3 are sharp rectangular edges. In another embodiment not shown, the longitudinal edges 12 of the container 3 are also rounded edges. In a further embodiment not shown, some transverse edges 13 of the container 3 and / or some transverse edges 20 of the container 14 may be rounded, non-rectangular edges, so that both the transverse edges 13 and / or 20 and the longitudinal edges 12 and / or 19 will be rounded non-rectangular edges.

In further embodiments not shown, all edges 19 and 20 of container 14 and all edges 12 and 13 of container 3 are sharp rectangular edges or some of edges 19 and 20 of container 14 and / or some of edges 12 and 13 of container 3 are rounded or beveled non-rectangular edges. Alternatively, at least one side wall 9, 10, 11, 17, 18 of at least one container 3, 14 has an outwardly convex profile, connected to at least one corresponding side wall 9, 10, 11, 17, 18 along an acute longitudinal edges 12, 19 and forms with said side wall 9, 10, 11, 17, 18, a substantially obtuse dihedral angle, or at least one side wall 9, 10, 11, 17, 18 of at least one container 3, 14 has an outwardly convex profile, connected to at least one corresponding end wall 7, 8, 15, 16 along an acute transverse about the edges 13, 20 and forms with the end wall 7, 8, 15, 16, a substantially obtuse dihedral angle.

By way of example, the embodiments described above can substantially reproduce the shape of the cigarette packs described in patent applications EP-A1-1066206, IT-BOAA000584 or EP-A1-0764595.

When the container 14 is in the indicated inserted position (FIG. 1), each side wall 17, 18 of the container 14 is clearly facing the corresponding side wall 10, 11, 9 and aligned with the corresponding side wall 10, 11, 9 of the container 3. More precisely, both containers 14 and 3 are made with dimensions that enable the placement of a group of 2 cigarettes and a container 14 with a small gap, respectively, resulting in minimizing the amount of packaging material required for the manufacture of containers 3, 14, and also reduce the movement of the cigarette group 2 inside the container 14 and the movement of the container 14 inside the container 3 are minimized. Obviously, a gap of some size should be ensured between the cigarette group 2 and the container 14 and between the container 14 and the container 3 in order to allow easy removal for the user, respectively cigarettes from container 14 and container 14 from container 3.

The small side wall 9 of the container 3 has an opening 22 (Fig. 3), which is configured and shaped to allow the insertion of the user's finger, and which is designed to help push the container 14 out of the container 3 by applying pressure to a small side wall 18 of the container 14 facing the hole 22 when the container 14 is in the indicated inserted position (figure 1).

In a not shown embodiment, the pack 1 contains locking means designed to limit the displacement of the container 14 relative to the container 3 and thereby preventing the container 14 from separating from the container 3, wherein said locking means are formed by two tongues protruding from the large side walls 17 of the container 14 and two tongues protruding from the large side walls 10 and 11 of the container 3. Each tongue of the container 14 protrudes outward from the container 14 from the corresponding larger side wall 17; each tab of the container 3 extends into the container 3 from the corresponding larger side wall 10, 11 and is located close to the open end 4 of the container 3, and each tab of the container 3 is located so as to ensure its interaction with the corresponding tab of the container 14, when the container 14 is pulled out of the container 3, as a result of which the separation of the container 14 from the container 3 is prevented.

According to an embodiment not shown, when the lid 5 is in the closed position, on the front larger side wall 10 of the container 3, the edge 31 of the lid 5 is separated from the edge 31 of the container 3 in order to partially expose the underlying container 14.

As shown in FIG. 4, the container 14 is formed from a corresponding flat blank 23, which is essentially in the shape of an elongated rectangle and whose components are indicated, where possible, by using the same reference numbers with superscripts as used for the corresponding parts container 14.

The blank 23 contains two groups 24 of longitudinal bending lines 25 and a number of transverse bending lines 26 defining between the two groups 24 of the longitudinal bending lines 25 a side 15 'forming part of the upper end wall 15, a side 17' forming one large side wall 17, a side 16 'forming the lower end wall 16, the side 17 "forming the other large side wall 17, and the side 15" forming part of the upper end wall 15. As shown in FIG. 5, the container 3 is formed from a corresponding planar blank 27 which is substantially rectangular and whose components are indicated, where possible, by using the same reference numbers with superscripts as were used for the corresponding parts of the container 3 .

The blank 27 comprises two longitudinal fold lines 28 and a number of transverse fold lines 29 defining between the two longitudinal fold lines 28 a side 10 'forming part of the front larger side wall 10, a side 9' forming one small side wall 9, a side 11 ', forming the rear large side wall 11, the side 9 "forming the other small side wall 9, and the side 10" forming the rest of the front larger side wall 10. The sides 10 ', 11', 10 "have corresponding pairs of wings 7 'and 8' which are located opposite the right sides of the sides 10 ', 11', 10 ", are separated from the sides 10 ', 11', 10" by longitudinal fold lines 28 and form the end walls 7, 8. In the alternative embodiment shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, pack 1 contains only a container 3 in which a cigarette group 2 is housed. More specifically, the container 3 comprises a frame 30 that projects partially from the open end 4 and which interacts with the corresponding inner surface of the lid 5 when the lid 5 is in the closed position. More specifically, the frame 30 of FIG. 7 has rounded longitudinally exposed exposed edges. Alternatively, the exposed longitudinal edges of the frame 30 may be beveled or rectangular. More specifically, the cigarettes in the cigarette group 2 inside the container 3 are parallel to the longitudinal edges 12 of the container 3, and the frame 30 forms an opening for removing cigarettes from the upper end wall 7, the front larger side wall 10 and the small side wall 9.

When the lid 5 is in the closed position, at the front larger side wall 10, the edge 31 of the lid 5 is separated from the edge 31 of the container 3 to partially open for viewing the portion of the frame below 30 protruding from the open end 4. Along the front larger side wall 10 of the container 3 the edge 31 of the lid 5 is parallel to the edge 31 of the container 3, so that the distance between the edge 31 of the lid 5 and the edge 31 of the container 3 is constant. In addition, when the lid 5 is in the closed position, at the end walls 7 and 8, the edge 31 of the cover 5 is substantially in contact with the edge 31 of the container 3.

In the alternative embodiments shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, along the front larger side wall 10 of the container 3, the distance between the edge 31 of the lid 5 and the edge 31 of the container 3 varies. As shown in FIGS. 6, 7, 9, 10, the edge 31 of the lid 5 and the edge 31 of the container 3 can obviously be formed by a straight line (FIGS. 6 and 7), a curved line (FIG. 10) or a curved line (FIG. .9).

As shown in FIG. 8, the container 3 of FIGS. 6 and 7 is formed from a corresponding planar blank 27, which is substantially rectangular and whose components are indicated, where possible, by using the same reference numbers with superscripts, which used for the respective parts of the container 3.

The blank 27 comprises two longitudinal fold lines 28 and a number of transverse fold lines 29 defining between the two longitudinal fold lines 28 a side 10 'forming part of the front larger side wall 10, a side 9' forming one small side wall 9, a side 11 ', forming the rear large side wall 11, the side 9 "forming the other small side wall 9, and the side 10" forming the rest of the front larger side wall 10. The sides 10 ', 11', 10 "have corresponding pairs of wings 7 'and 8' which are located opposite the right sides of the sides 10 ', 11', 10 ", are separated from the sides 10 ', 11', 10" by longitudinal fold lines 28 and form the end walls 7, 8. Tests have shown that the anatomical shape of packs 1 of cigarettes, similar to those described above, allows for easy handling by the user. In addition, the fact that the lid 5 is located on the side of the container 3 (includes a part of the end walls 7, 8, a part of the large side walls 10, 11 and the small side wall 9) prevents the lid 5 from being accidentally opened when the pack 1 is in pocket of the user, thereby providing effective protection for cigarettes inside the pack 1.

Considering the many advantages of cigarette packs 1, such as those described above, the shape of packs 1 can also be fully applied to the manufacture of other types of rigid containers for tobacco products, such as cardboard cigarette pack boxes or cigar boxes.

Claims (21)

1. A rigid packaging for tobacco products, the package (1) comprising a first container (3) having an open end (4) and a lid (5) pivotally connected to the first container (3) to rotate between the open position and the closed position, respectively opening and closing the open end (4); in this case, when the lid (5) is in the closed position, the first container (3) has a substantially parallelepipedal shape and contains two upper and lower end walls (7, 8), respectively, and a side surface bounded by end walls (7, 8 ) and containing two, respectively, front and rear, large side walls (10, 11), two small side walls (9), four longitudinal edges (12), each of which is formed between the larger side wall (10; 11) and the small side wall (9), and eight transverse edges (13), each of which is formed between the end face wall (7; 8) and side wall (9; 10; 11), while the cover (5) is pivotally attached along the hinge (6) formed in the rear larger side wall (11), the package also contains a second container (14) designed to accommodate tobacco products (2) and slidably placed inside the first container (3) to slide relative to the first container (3) between the inserted position in which the second container (14) is fully inserted inside the first container (3) and the extended position , in which part of the second container (14) is extended from the first container (3) and protrudes from the open end (4) of the first container (3), the second container (14) having a substantially parallelepiped shape and containing two, respectively, upper and lower end walls (15, 16) and a side surface, bounded by the end walls (15, 16) and containing two, respectively, front and rear, large side walls (17), two small side walls (18), four longitudinal edges (19), each of which is formed between a larger side wall (17) and a small side wall (18), and eight transverse edges (20), each of which grazed between the end wall (15; 16) and a side wall (17; 18), characterized in that the hinge (6) of the cover (5) is parallel to the longitudinal edges (12), the cover (5) contains part of the end walls (7, 8), part of the large side walls (10) , 11) and a small side wall (9), the upper end wall (15) of the second container (14) contains an open section (21) for removing tobacco products (2) from the second container (14) when the second container (14) is in the extended position, while the open section (21) of the upper end wall (15) of the second container (14) is completely closed by the upper end wall (7) ervogo container (3) when the second container (14) is in the inserted position, and is opened when the second container (14) is in the extended position. 2.
