The nutrient medium may further comprise an energy source.
Strontium-containing natural brines are a food source for bacteria and a good solvent for gold.
The method is as follows.
ПримерExample
The method was carried out in a continuous installation, including a fermenter for the cultivation of bacteria, cascaded tanks for bacterial oxidation of sulfides, a filter and an agitator for the recovery of exposed gold. A 1.5 L aqueous solution of strontium-containing natural brine, a nutrient medium for the cultivation of bacteria at a concentration of 3.5 g / l, was placed in a 2-liter fermenter with a pH of 2.5 by adding sulfuric acid. 100 g of iron (II) sulfate, 1 g of sulfur were added to the created nutrient medium, 150 ml of an inoculum of autotrophic thionic acid-loving bacteria were added and cultured to 10 6 cells in 1 ml (cells / ml) at 30 ° С and continuous aeration. Then, 300 g of a refractory sulfide concentrate containing 120 g / t gold, 78% bound to sulfides, were placed in the resulting bacterial solution. With the accumulation of 10 8 -10 9 cells / ml in the pulp of bacteria, the active bacterial oxidation of sulfides began. From this moment, a nutrient medium and a concentrate were continuously fed into the fermenter at a flow rate of 96 hours. The pulp emerging from the last vat was filtered, after which the solid phase containing opened gold (confirmed by mineralogical analysis) was sent to extract gold by dissolution in an agitator filled with undiluted strontium-containing natural brine. Chemical analysis of the insoluble residue showed that 94.2% of the gold went into solution.
The process was monitored by indicators of acidity, redox potential, sulfide content in the pulp and gold recovery.
For comparison, the described installation was tested using traditional technology using the well-known nutrient medium Silverman and Lundgren 9K in the process of bacterial oxidation, and cyanide in the process of gold extraction.
A comparative analysis of the results showed the advantages of the proposed method: at the same high technological performance (gold extraction according to the proposed technology - 94.2%, according to the traditional one - 93.9%), the technological scheme and its hardware design are much simpler, in addition, the use of toxic reagents is excluded , including highly toxic cyanide.
