Abstract
FIELD: fur, textile and sewing industry, agriculture. SUBSTANCE: method involves separating fur portion area under control directly on fur; gathering fur hair of said portion into bundle; fixing hairs in bundle and determining number of hairs in bundle; calculating fur thickness from formula: , where n is total number of hairs in bundle na = na+nf,, pc; S is area of fur portion under control, sq.cm; additionally determining diameter of fuzz and awn hair; evaluating section area in vertically fixed hair bundle in two levels defined by hair foot and fuzz hair ends at predetermined pressure; determining number na of awn hairs and number na of fuzz hairs in total number nf of hairs from formula: , where na is number of awn hairs, pc; S2b is section area of bundle at fuzz hair ends, sq.mm; S2a is section area of awn hair, sq.mm; , where S2b is section area of bundle at fuzz hair ends, sq.mm; S1b is section area of bundle at hair roots, sq.mm; S1f is section area of fuzz hair, sq.mm. Method provides nondestructive measurement of hair surface thickness of artificial and natural fur during investigations, at sorting and evaluation stages. EFFECT: intensified and nondestructive quantitative evaluation of fur thickness at sorting stage, improved and accelerated animal grading quality evaluation due to elimination of manual process for hair number counting. 3 dwg, 2 tbl
