Abstract
Description
The invention relates to metallurgy of foundry, in particular to the development of compositions of heat-resistant cast iron for cast parts operating at high temperatures in internal combustion engines.
Known cast iron [1], niresist with spherical graphite (SH) of the following chemical composition, wt.%:
Carbon - 2.5-3.0
Silicon - 2.0-2.5
Manganese - 1.3-1.8
Chrome - 0.6-1.0
Nickel - 14-16
Copper - 3-3.5
The disadvantage of cast iron is its low heat resistance. When testing this cast iron at a temperature of 750 o C for 200 hours, the increase in the mass of the dross was 0.79%, while for siliceous cast iron with spherical graphite 0.20%. Moreover, the scale of the niresist easily separated and crumbled, while the silicon oxide with spherical graphite had a dense and not crumbled scale. Large and easily detachable scale is unacceptable in the exhaust manifolds of diesel engines with a turbocharger.
Closest to the proposed cast iron in technical essence and the achieved result is silicon cast iron [2] of the following chemical composition, wt.%:
Carbon - 2.7-3.3
Silicon - 4.5-5.5
Manganese - ≤0.8
Chrome - ≤0.2
Sulfur - ≤0.03
Phosphorus - ≤0.1
The disadvantage of this cast iron is the high content of carbon and silicon, which leads to the appearance of "non-metallic inclusions", which according to GOST 19200-80 are defined as a defect in the form of a non-metallic particle that has entered the metal mechanically or formed due to the chemical interaction of the components during melting and pouring of metal . For this cast iron, “non-metallic inclusions” is “graphite spell” in the upper parts of a thin-walled casting. When testing the castings of the collectors for leaks, a "leak" appears in these places.
Silicon cast iron with SHG [2] and high carbon equivalent (table 1,
9, 10, 11). In addition, this cast iron has insufficient heat resistance (average weight gain of 0.12-0.36%, in table 2, cast
The technical task of this invention is to increase the mechanical properties, heat resistance and the exclusion of "non-metallic inclusions" in cast iron in the form of "graphite spell", as well as in the form of "black spots" of magnesium oxides and sulfides MgO + MgS formed in the upper parts of the casting when modified with a magnesium modifier .
The technical result is achieved by the fact that cast iron obtained by modification in the form of ferrosilicomagnesium and containing carbon, silicon, manganese, chromium, sulfur, phosphorus, additionally contains magnesium and has the following chemical composition, wt.%:
Carbon - 2.5-3.2
Silicon - 4.4-5.1
Manganese - up to 0.4
Chrome - up to 0.1
Sulfur - up to 0.025
Phosphorus - up to 0.1
Magnesium - 0.03-0.06
Iron - Else

GAZ OJSC, in the conditions of the research department of foundry processes in the foundry, experimental comparative melts were conducted with the known and proposed cast irons. Cast iron was smelted in an IST-016 induction furnace with an acid lining. As a charge, pig-iron pig irons, return of cast iron SCh25, steel waste and ferroalloys were used. The gate system was made with a reaction chamber for modifying the proposed cast iron in the form of ferrosilicomagnesium. Known cast iron was modified in a ladle. The metal was overheated in an oven to 1500 o C and wedges were poured (according to GOST 7293-79), from which samples were cut for mechanical properties and heat resistance. In the foundry, the "exhaust manifold" parts were cast for a diesel engine with a turbocharger.

At high carbon - 3.3% and high silicon - 5.5% (cast

With a manganese content of more than 0.4%, perlite and cementite appear in the structure of cast iron, which leads to a decrease in ductility of cast iron.
When the chromium content is more than 0.1%, cementite appears in the structure of cast iron, which leads to a decrease in the plastic properties of the casting. A lower chromium content does not affect the properties of the alloy.
When the phosphorus content is more than 0.1%, the tendency of cast iron to embrittlement increases. A lower phosphorus content does not affect the properties of the alloy.
The magnesium content of less than 0.03% in the details of silicon iron with spherical graphite leads to the appearance of vermicular graphite and a decrease in mechanical properties (cast
When the sulfur content is more than 0.025%, vermicular graphite appears in the structure of cast iron and the plastic properties decrease (cast
The best chemical composition of the proposed cast iron, both in terms of mechanical, technological and operational properties, as well as in the absence of rejects on cast parts, are the compositions of
Such a combination of the technological process — modification of the given chemical composition in the form of ferrosilicomagnesium cast iron provides high mechanical properties, increased heat resistance and elimination of casting defects, which allowed this alloy to be introduced when casting critical parts “exhaust manifold” and “turbine body” for a diesel engine instead of an expensive and non-heat-resistant alloy. When modified in the form, finer graphite of the correct form is obtained, which greatly increases the mechanical properties of the alloy and its heat resistance.
