Abstract
Description
This invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used in the electrolytic production of pure metal, by preparing rich electrolytes and solutions of mainly non-ferrous metals.
A known method of dissolving metals in the electrolytic production of copper, which consists in the following. Inside the tank, in its middle part, solid metal is loaded, which must be dissolved. Then liquid electrolyte is poured in the form of an acid solution, and compressed air is supplied from the opposite side. The metal is loaded in the form of granules and after filling, the entire volume of the electrolyte with the metal is constantly mixed. Mixing the liquid together with the metal is carried out both by mechanical stirrers and by air. (see copyright certificate 645689, USSR, according to class B 01 F 1/00, 1979).
The disadvantage of this method is that in the process of dissolution of the metal, not all metal is dissolved in acid, which leads to significant losses in the process of dissolution. In addition, the rate of dissolution decreases and, as a result, labor productivity. Another disadvantage of the known method is that the dissolution is carried out in one mode and it is impossible to change it depending on the operating conditions and the amount of the required metal solution without additional transformations.
The technical task of the proposed solution is to eliminate the above disadvantages, increase the productivity of the metal dissolution process, reduce metal losses during the dissolution process and provide adjustment of the metal dissolution rate directly in the dissolution process.
The specified technical result is achieved by the fact that in the proposed method of dissolving the metal, which includes loading solid metal in the middle parts of the vessel, supplying air and liquid electrolyte simultaneously into the vessel from opposite sides, when dissolving over the metal, a continuous layer of liquid electrolyte is constantly maintained when feeding it from above in sprayed form. At the same time, the thickness of the layer of liquid electrolyte over the metal is kept constant during its regulation throughout the process, and the atomization of liquid electrolyte is carried out uniformly over the entire cross section of the tank.
The drawing schematically shows an apparatus for dissolving metals, made by the proposed method.
2. The apparatus for dissolving the metal contains a container 1, inside of which a base 2 with holes 3 is fixed in its middle part. A solid part of the metal 4, which needs to be dissolved, is placed on the base. From below, a stream of compressed air 5 is supplied under the base, and from the top through the nozzles 6, an electrolyte 7 is supplied, which forms a layer 8 above the metal 4 and is regulated by the drain 9. The enriched electrolyte after dissolving the metal in it is removed from the tank through a line 10 installed below the base 2.
The dissolution of the metal by the proposed method is as follows. In the container 1, in its middle part, the base 2 is rigidly fixed to the grid with a certain size of the holes 3, mainly smaller than the size of the granules of the solid metal 4, which is located on the base 2. From below, under the base 2, a stream of compressed air 5 is supplied, which, passing through the holes 3 of the base 2, is in contact with the liquid electrolyte 7 and the metal 4 and thereby activates the dissolution process. As a result of the movement of gas and liquid counterflows, the liquid electrolyte 7 is crushed into small parts, and its flow rate through the metal 4 sharply decreases, which increases the intensity of the mass transfer of metal 4 to the liquid electrolyte 7 and saturates it with the latter to the required value. Saturated electrolyte 7 with metal 4 is removed from tank 1 through line 10. The process of dissolution of metal 4 is carried out continuously until the complete disappearance of metal granules. After that, a new portion of metal is poured and the process is repeated.
The dissolution of the metal according to the proposed method is carried out in three modes:
1. Film mode - the dissolution rate is small when the density of irrigation of the metal with electrolyte is small and the flow rate of compressed air is small.
2. Suspension mode - the average rate of metal dissolution, when the fluid velocity in the metal zone decreases due to its inhibition by air flow. In this case, the thickness of the liquid film and its amount in the nozzle increases, which ultimately increases the mass transfer rate.
3. Emulsification mode - when there is an accumulation of liquid in the nozzle, which leads to the transformation of the entire space into a gas-liquid system. In this case, the surface area of contact with the solid phase increases, which is determined not by the geometric surface of the nozzle, but by the size and number of air bubbles. In this case, the performance of the metal dissolution process is maximum.
Example.
We load 7 tons of copper granules, wire scraps and other copper production wastes inside the tank. Then the capacity is filled with an electrolyte with a concentration of 150 g / DM sulfuric acid until then, until an electrolyte layer forms above the copper. Then the nozzles are turned on and the electrolyte begins to be supplied to the container in a sprayed form in a volume of 1.1-4 m / h. At the same time, compressed air in a volume of 11-56 m / h is supplied from below to the container and copper dissolves in the sulfuric acid electrolyte. The dissolution rate of copper in the proposed oxidizer using the invention is 9-56 kg / h, depending on the mode of operation (emulsification, suspension or film mode).
Using the proposed solution in apparatus for dissolving metal allows the dissolution process to complete disappearance of the solid metal phase, and its location in the middle part allows to reduce its irretrievable losses, because the solid phase is always located in the zone of movement of the counterflows of liquid and gas. In addition, by adjusting the amount of liquid and air and without changing other parameters of the device, it allows you to adjust the rate of dissolution of the metal, and in comparison with the known methods of dissolving metals, to obtain an effective, with low energy costs and with great possibilities of use for different needs of dissolved metal, dissolution method metal, mainly copper.
