Abstract
Description
The invention relates to foundry, metallurgical, construction industries, in particular to methods for manufacturing liquid glass.
Widely known methods for the manufacture of liquid glass from glassy alkaline silicate (silicate blocks) [Grigoriev PN, Matveev MA Soluble glass. State publishing house of literature on building materials. M., 1956, - p. 188; 203]. Known methods include the operation of preparing a silicate block, grinding it to a powder state, followed by dissolution in heated water with continuous stirring. Dissolution is carried out in open type mechanical stirrers with electric, gas or steam heating and in closed type stirrers - autoclaves at high vapor pressures of about 5-8 MPa and elevated heating temperatures of about 105-110 o C.
To implement these methods, a glassy silicate block is preliminarily prepared by high-temperature (1450-1480 o С) fusion of silica in the form of quartz sand with one of the solid alkaline compounds: sodium soda, sodium or potassium sulfate, potassium potash.
The use of silicate block allows to obtain high-quality aqueous solutions of water glass. However, these methods are characterized by a multi-stage and lengthy process, high energy and labor costs, the need to use sophisticated equipment, in particular smelting furnaces for the preparation of a glassy silicate block, autoclaves for preparing aqueous solutions of liquid glass - pressure vessels requiring periodic testing and inspection " Boiler surveillance ".
Therefore, for the manufacture of liquid glass in production, methods for its direct synthesis are often used when dissolving silica in aqueous solutions of alkaline compounds.
From the literature [Afanasyeva RS, Mostovoi, Bogoslovsky SD, Handbook V.I. Production of liquid glass using industrial waste. Foundry, 1986, p.13.] A method of manufacturing liquid glass is known, according to which pre-vibrated crushed silica sand is loaded into industrial wastes of aqueous alkaline solutions and heated in a tubular autoclave. As the authors of this method, when dissolving remains a large undissolved precipitate in comparison with the manufacture of liquid glass from a vitreous silicate block. This degrades the quality of the resulting liquid glass and increases the duration of the manufacturing process.
Closest to the technical nature of the claimed is a method of manufacturing liquid glass by direct synthesis, given in the book of Grigoriev P.N. [Grigoriev P.N., Matveev M.A. Soluble glass. State publishing house of literature on building materials. M., 1956, - p.126]. The method includes operations of preliminary preparation of dry silica-containing material by grinding and sieving it on sieves, preparing a liquid component by dissolving solid caustic soda in water, loading an aqueous solution of caustic soda into a mixer, loading dry silica-containing material into an aqueous alkaline solution, mixing the components, loading obtained mixtures into an autoclave followed by steam supply for heating and stirring the solution, unloading the finished liquid glass into liquid tanks about glass, feeding liquid glass with a pump for filtration and subsequent evaporation to the desired density of the finished liquid glass.
The disadvantages of this method are: the need for a long and energy-intensive operation for the preparation of silica-containing material, the operation used to pre-dissolve alkali in water reduces the activity of alkaline compounds to silica and reduces the efficiency of the process of its colloidization, which necessitates prolonged pre-mixing of the components, followed by steam heating in atoclaves, resulting in to increase energy costs and reduce labor productivity. In addition, the liquid glass obtained in this way contains an increased amount of water, which condenses in excess from the supplied steam. This makes it difficult to obtain stable properties of liquid glass and leads to the need to introduce the operation of its evaporation, which increases the energy consumption for production.
The objective of the invention is to develop such a method of manufacturing liquid glass, which would provide an increase in productivity compared to the known method by reducing the production cycle of operations and their duration, reducing energy consumption due to additional heating of the solution during the preparation of liquid glass due to the heat generated from exothermic chemical reactions between components at the time of their mixing instead of using external heating of the solution for colloidization, improving the quality of CTBA molten glass through the use of the solid starting material kremnezemosoderzhaschego vysokokolloidalnyh forms of silica and by increasing the colloidal silica itself directly in the solution due to momentary active and its chemical interaction with alkaline compounds at the time of microcontact simultaneous dissolution in water.
The problem is solved in that in a method for manufacturing liquid glass, including operations for preparing a solid component, preparing a liquid component by heating, mixing the components, mixing, discharging the finished product, when preparing the solid component, silica-containing material is used in the form of pulverized wastes generated on filters of ferroalloy furnaces at smelting of silicon-containing alloys, a solid caustic alkali is added to it: caustic sodium hydroxide (NaOH), or caustic potassium hydroxide (KOH), or a mixture thereof, as The liquid component uses industrial or tap water in the temperature range from 15 to 100 o C and the components are mixed in the following order: first, heated water is loaded into the mixer or water is heated in it, and then a mixture of solid components is loaded into the mixer.
The invention consists in the following. Dusty waste of ferroalloy production during the smelting of silicon containing alloys - silica fume is formed on the filters of ferroalloy furnaces in the form of particles with sizes comparable with the sizes of colloidal silica particles in aqueous solutions of water glass. Therefore, there is no need to perform the grinding operation of the initial silica-containing material. Premixing silica fume and solid alkaline materials before mixing with water provides contact of the particles of the starting components at the micro level already in the solid state. Therefore, when a previously prepared mixture of solid components is loaded into water, the exothermic reaction of hydration of the components occurs intensively in the entire volume at the micro level of the particles of the reacting components, which ensures high activity of their interaction while simultaneously heating them additionally at the moment of interaction between the particles and, thereby, increases the efficiency of colloidization of silica fume particles and therefore leads to improved properties of the finished liquid glass. At the same time, energy costs for preparing solid components are reduced, since ready-made pulverized silica fume is used, as well as for heating components, since instead of a long operation of heating a mixture of components in an autoclave with steam after mixing, a short-term operation of preheating only water before mixing the components is used. In this case, the colloidization process proceeds efficiently while ensuring the proposed order of component introduction: first, water with a temperature of 15 to 100 o C is loaded into the mixer or heated in it, and a mixture of solid components is loaded into it. This is due to the fact that during this process, the start of colloidization of silica occurs at the moment of the start of active hydration of solid caustic alkali in solution. Moreover, these processes occur at the micro level of silica particles, which increases the speed and depth of its colloidization in solution. Therefore, the process of colloidization of silica is deepened and reduced in time, and the binding properties of the finished liquid glass are improved. In this case, the total preparation time of liquid glass according to the specified method in comparison with the known one is reduced by 5-30 times and varies from 3 to 30 minutes depending on the temperature of the preheating of water and the quantitative ratio of the loaded solid components (silicate module) in the resulting liquid glass .
Thus, when implementing the proposed method provides an increase in productivity of production of liquid glass, reducing energy costs and improving the quality of the finished liquid glass.
According to the proposed method, liquid glass is made with any size of the silicate module, but preferably with a silicate module from 2.0 to 10 units. Moreover, the less liquid glass is prepared with a smaller module, the less water is used to dissolve. The minimum temperature for heating water in the manufacture of liquid glass with a silicate module is 2.0 units. is 15 o C. At a lower temperature, the process of manufacturing liquid glass over time increases excessively, which reduces production productivity. In the manufacture of liquid glass with a silicate module above 5 units. only water preheated to 100 o C. is used.
The density of water glass is regulated by the ratio of the applied water and solid components.

Example 1. For the manufacture of liquid glass used pulverized waste generated on the filters of a ferroalloy furnace during the smelting of ferrosilicon, called silica fume, which is supplied by ferroalloy plants in Russia according to TU 4325-001-02495336-96. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH), supplied in accordance with TU 2132-140-057587-98, was used as solid caustic alkali. For the manufacture of liquid glass, heated tap water and an open-type paddle mixer of the LU-100 model were used.
М=% SiО2•1,032 /% Na2О
The following order of preparation of liquid glass was applied. When preparing the solid component, solid sodium hydroxide was added to the silica fume in the ratio to obtain liquid glass with a module of 3.0 units. To calculate the ratio of components in relation to obtaining a given silicate module, the formula given in GOST for liquid glass 13078 - 91 was used:
M =% SiО 2 • 1,032 /% Na 2 О
Heated water was poured into the mixer at a temperature of 50 ° C. A pre-prepared mixture of solid components was poured into the heated water with continuous stirring. The temperature of the solution increased to 100 o C. After stirring for 20 minutes, the finished liquid glass was cooled to room temperature and used as intended as a binder for the preparation of core mixtures in the foundry.
The total duration of the manufacture of a portion of liquid glass in an amount of 50 kg together with the heating of the water was 40 minutes. The duration of the dissolution process does not depend on the number of components used, but depends only on the duration of their loading into the mixer.
6-18-50-86. Example 2. For the manufacture of liquid glass used pulverized waste - silica fume according to TU 4325-001-02495336-96 and potassium hydroxide (KOH), supplied according to TU 6-18-50-86.
When preparing the solid component, solid potassium hydroxide was added to silica fume to obtain liquid glass with a module of 3 units. in the amount of 100 kg. Hot water with a temperature of 60 ° C was poured into the mixer and a mixture of solid components was poured into it. At the same time, the temperature of the solution increased to 97 o C. After stirring for 25 minutes, the solution was cooled and used as intended for the preparation of paste used as coatings for welding electrodes.
Example 3. For the manufacture of liquid glass used pulverized waste - silica fume according to TU 4325-001-02495336-96 and a mixture of caustic alkalis: 90% sodium hydroxide and 10% potassium hydroxide.
Water with a temperature of 20 o C was poured into the mixer and a mixture of solid components was poured to obtain liquid glass with a silicate module of 2.5 units. The temperature of the solution increased to 100 o With the manufacture of 100 kg of liquid glass. After 15 minutes of stirring and subsequent cooling, liquid glass was used as intended as a binder for the manufacture of foundry molds and cores.
In the table. 1 shows comparative indicators for the duration of the manufacturing process and the quality of liquid glass. Table 1 shows only the mixing time of solid and liquid components until liquid glass is ready. An indicator of the readiness of liquid glass is the achievement of a constant viscosity of the solution. The viscosity of the solution was determined in arbitrary units by viscometer brand VZ-4. The quality of water glass was evaluated by the strength of sand samples after their hardening with carbon dioxide.
As can be seen in table 1, the proposed method provides a reduction only in the cycle of preparation of liquid glass in comparison with the known method in 20-30 times. In this case, the binding properties of liquid glass are increased by 3-7 times, ceteris paribus modulo and density of liquid glass.
In the table. 2 shows data on the duration of mixing until liquid glass is ready, depending on the temperature of pre-heating water for a composition modulo 3.0 units.
As can be seen in the table. 2, when using water with a temperature of less than 15 o With excessively increases the mixing time of the solution until ready, especially for liquid glass with a high modulus. Therefore, the lower limit of water heating is limited to a temperature of 15 o C. As for the upper limit of water heating to 100 o C, it is necessary for the manufacture of high-modulus varieties of water glass with a module of 5-10 units. and higher, which is impossible to do in a known manner even at elevated temperatures and high pressures in autoclaves. Therefore, when using the proposed method there is no need to use autoclaves to increase the heating temperature when exposed to excessive steam pressure.
By reducing the time of manufacturing liquid glass, eliminating the operation of preparing a silica-containing material, as well as using heat from exothermic reactions instead of external heating of the solution, the energy consumption for the production of binder solutions is significantly reduced.
