Description
The invention relates to analytical chemistry, and in particular to methods for the quantitative determination of N-substituted maleimides: N-phenylmaleiminimide (PMI), N-o-tolyl maleimide (OMI), N-p-tolyl maleimide (PTMI), N-p-nitrophenyl maleimide (NFMI) and N-1-naphthylmaleinimide (NMI).
180.]. A known method for the quantitative determination of imides by hydrolysis of an analyzed sample of a substance followed by titration with a solution of sodium nitrite [Siggiya S., Hannah J. G. Quantitative organic analysis by functional groups. M .: Chemistry, 1983, - p. 180.].
The disadvantage of this method is the low detection limit and low selectivity due to the diazotization reaction used.
6 G 01 N 21/78, 1998].Of the known methods, the closest in technical essence and the achieved result to the claimed method (prototype) is a method for the quantitative determination of maleimides by hydrolysis of an analyzed sample of a substance with subsequent measurement of the optical density of the resulting solution, proportional to the content of maleinimide in the sample, at a characteristic wavelength, while hydrolyzing reagent use 0.1 M hydrochloric acid and the solution is heated for 50 minutes at 80-90 o C [RF Patent N 2106616 "Quantity a definitive definition of maleimides, "IPC 6 G 01 N 21/78, 1998].
The disadvantages of the method are the duration of the determination and the need for heating the analyzed solutions.
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that in the proposed method for the quantitative determination of maleinimide by hydrolysis of the analyzed sample of the substance with subsequent measurement of the optical density of the resulting solution, proportional to the content of maleinimide in the analyzed sample at a characteristic wavelength, the hydrolysis of the analyzed sample is carried out in concentrated acetic acid at 20-25 o C for 1-3 minutes, after which the optical density of the resulting solution is measured at a characteristic wavelength.
The technical results are the reduction of the determination time, since during hydrolysis in concentrated acetic acid, the process proceeds in a short (1-3 min) period of time; elimination of the heating stage of the analyzed solutions, which leads to a simplification of the definitions and elimination of possible losses of the analyzed sample.
The invention is illustrated by the following examples for the determination of maleimides.
2.Example 1. The construction of the calibration characteristics for the photometric determination of maleimides. An accurate weighed portion of maleinimide (50.0 mg) was placed in a 50 ml volumetric flask and hydrolysis was performed in concentrated (ρ = 1.04 g / cm 3 ) acetic acid at 20-25 ° C for 1-3 minutes. The standard solution contains 1.0 mg / ml of the substance. To build a calibration curve, ten graduated tubes with a capacity of more than 20 ml are sequentially placed with 0.01 ml, 0.02 ml, 0.05 ml, 0.07 ml, 0.1 ml, 0.2 ml, 0.5 ml, 0 , 7 ml, 0.9 ml, 1.0 ml of a standard solution of maleimide and adjusted to a volume of 20.0 ml with concentrated acetic acid. After that, the optical density of the obtained solutions is measured at a characteristic wavelength (table 1) on an SF-26 spectrophotometer in quartz cuvettes with an absorbing layer thickness of 1 cm relative to concentrated acetic acid. The dependence of the optical density of the obtained solutions on the concentration of maleimides is given in table 2.
4. Example 2. Determination of PMI in a control sample. An exact dry matter sample (25.0 mg) is placed in a 25 ml volumetric flask and hydrolysis is carried out in concentrated acetic acid to form a hydrolyzate, maleic acid. It turns out a solution with a concentration of 1.0 mg / ml PMI. Then, from the resulting solution, in ten graduated test tubes with a capacity of more than 20 ml, two series of 5 aliquots are taken and adjusted to a volume of 20.0 ml with concentrated acetic acid. Then measure the optical density of the resulting solutions at 270 nm relative to concentrated acetic acid. The desired concentration of the substance is found using the calibration characteristics. The results of the determination of PMI are shown in table 4.
4. Example 3. Determination of PTMI in the control sample. An accurately weighed dry substance (25.0 mg) was placed in a 25 ml volumetric flask and hydrolysis was carried out in concentrated acetic acid. It turns out a solution with a concentration of 1.0 mg / ml PTMI. Next, from the resulting solution in ten graduated test tubes with a capacity of more than 20 ml, two series of 5 aliquots were taken and processed in the same manner as in Example 2. The optical density of the resulting solutions was measured at 275 nm. The desired concentration of the substance is found using the calibration characteristics. The results of the determination of PTMI are shown in table 4.
4. Example 4. Determination of NMI in a control sample. An accurately weighed dry substance (25.0 mg) was placed in a 25 ml volumetric flask and hydrolysis was carried out in concentrated acetic acid. It turns out a solution with a concentration of 1.0 mg / ml NMI. Then, they proceed in the same manner as in Example 3. The optical density of the obtained solutions was measured at 288 nm. The desired concentration of the substance is found using the calibration characteristics. The results of the determination of NMI are shown in table 4.
As a result of the hydrolysis of maleimides in concentrated acetic acid, the corresponding maleic acid acids are formed. In this case, unlike the prototype, the process takes place in a short period of time (1-3 min), which is confirmed by the data in Table 3, which shows the dependence of the optical density of maleimide hydrolysates at a wavelength of maximum absorption of the corresponding maleic acid acids on time.
The general nature of the acid hydrolysis of maleimides is confirmed by the correspondence of the spectral characteristics of the hydrolysates obtained in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid and in concentrated acetic acid (table 1).
The hydrolysis of maleimides in concentrated acetic acid does not require heating of the solutions: the process occurs at 20-25 o C, which leads to a simplification of the definitions.
The detection limit of maleimides by the proposed method is, depending on the specific maleimide, 0.08-0.4 μg / ml, the Bouger-Lambert-Behr law is observed at maleimide concentrations from 0.5 to 50.0 μg / ml. The relative error of determination does not exceed 8%. The determination time is 3-5 minutes.
