Смётка-стамеска для пчеловодства представляет собой щетку, изготовленную из дерева, на основание которой наклеен ворс, и стамеску, изготовленную из листового металла, имеющую Г-образную форму. Стамеска посредством одного шурупа в середине рукоятки крепится в середину рукоятки с противоположной к ворсу стороне щетки выгнутой частью стамески от щетки, обеспечивая тем самым свободное вращение стамески относительно щетки, образуя тем самым сочетание двух инструментов в одном. Так на протяжении всего периода пчеловождения необходимо периодически осматривать пчелосемьи, при необходимости добавлять или убирать рамки и от того как плавно и бесшумно достаются рамки зависит общее спокойствие семьи. Рамки стоят в улье вплотную друг к другу и в процессе жизнедеятельности семьи склеиваются пчелами между собой и к самому улью при помощи прополиса. Чтобы оторвать рамки друг от друга и от улья пчеловод использует стамеску, а для стряхивания ненужных пчел с рамки пчеловод использует либо гусиное крыло, либо щетку с искусственным или естественным ворсом.
