Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the chemical, gas and oil industries and can be used for gas purification from carbon dioxide.
A known method of purifying natural gas from carbon dioxide, including contacting it with ammonia, separating the purified gas and processing the resulting reaction mixture with a solution of sodium sulfate with a concentration of 470 - 515 g / l [1]
The disadvantage of this method is the use of highly toxic compounds - ammonia [2]
There is also known a method of removing acid gases from gas mixtures [3] according to which the gas is purified from carbon dioxide by washing in a scrubber with an alkaline solution containing 25 40% K 2 CO 3 (at a solution temperature of up to 130 o C), 3% diethyl-2, 2-dihydro-xylamine and 1 2% N-alkyl-2-aminoethanol.
The disadvantages of this method include the use of scarce and expensive organic compounds, as well as elevated temperatures, suggesting the use of additional heating devices.
CO2.We did not find in the literature data on electrochemical methods for purifying natural gases from CO 2 .
The essence of the proposed technical solution is that as a reagent used to extract carbon dioxide from natural gases, zinc hydroxide is obtained by electrolysis at room temperature of a 5 M sodium chloride solution in an electrolytic cell with a soluble zinc anode (anode current density of 0.1 A / cm 2 ; W 98%). Next, a suspension of zinc hydroxide is treated with a stream of natural gas containing carbon dioxide. The resulting zinc carbonate is removed from the system and can be used as a commercial product.
The proposed method allows to eliminate the use of scarce and expensive reagents in the process and the need to use high temperature conditions. The degree of gas purification is about 100%
Example 1. Electrolysis is subjected to 100 ml of a 5 M solution of sodium chloride saturated with natural gas under a pressure of 0.1 MPa at an anode current density of 0.1 A / cm 2 . Current strength 2 A, voltage 2.4 V, electrolysis time 2 hours. Current output of zinc carbonate 98%
Example 2. The electrolysis was carried out according to claim 1, characterized in that the anode current density of 0.05 A / cm 2 . Zinc carbonate current efficiency 81%
Example 3. The electrolysis was carried out according to claim 1, characterized in that the anode current density of 0.15 A / cm 2 . Zinc carbonate current efficiency 90%
The advantages of the proposed method for the purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide include the following.
1. The proposed method of purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide involves the use of a completely non-deficient and inexpensive reagent of sodium chloride, in contrast to diethyl-2,2-dihydroxylamine and N-alkyl-2-aminoethanol, the use of which is provided for by a known method of purification of gas mixtures from acid gases .
2. The proposed method provides for the purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide electrochemically at a command temperature (against 130 o C of the known method), which does not require the use of additional heating devices and additional energy costs for heating the solution.
3. The proposed method of purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide actually requires for the preparation of the electrolyte used in the process, only one ingredient is sodium chloride (against the three ingredients K 2 CO 3 , diethyl-2,2-dihydroxylamine and N-alkyl-2-aminoethanol known method for cleaning gas mixtures).
4. The proposed method of purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide does not require the use of toxic substances, in particular, N-alkyl derivatives of 2-aminoethanol [4]
5. According to the proposed method, simultaneously with the purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide, the formation of zinc carbonate occurs, which, after being removed from the system, can be used as a valuable commodity product.
100% 6. The proposed method is characterized by a high degree of purification of natural gases from carbon dioxide about 100%
