Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the chemical and gas industry, namely to odorants used to odorize natural and other combustible gases.
Known odorant for natural gas based on alkyl mercaptans, including n-propyl, iso-propyl and tert-butyl mercaptans [1]
The disadvantages of this odorant are high oxidizability, insufficient intensity and odor stability.
Closest to the intended purpose and combination of essential features is an odorant for natural gas based on alkyl mercaptans, including n-propyl, iso-propyl, tert-butyl mercaptans and hexane and / or its isomers [2]
The disadvantages of the known odorant for natural gases, adopted as a prototype of the invention, are high oxidizability, insufficient intensity and odor stability. During oxidation, mercaptans turn into less odorous compounds, diethyl sulfides, therefore, when transporting gas over long distances, there is a constant decrease in the odor strength of the odorized gas, which forces an additional introduction of an odorant, i.e. increase its consumption.
The invention solves the problem of reducing odorant consumption by improving its organoleptic and physico-chemical properties.
To solve this problem, the proposed odorant for natural gas based on alkyl mercaptans, including n-propyl, iso-propyl and tert-butyl mercaptans, additionally contains pyridine and α-picoline in the following ratio, wt.
Pyridine 0.05 0.14
a-Picolin 0.05 0.14
tert-butyl mercaptan 8.9 14.2
n-Propyl mercaptan 6.8 8.7
iso-propyl mercaptan rest
The technical result consists in the fact that the new odorant has a more intense, stable odor, low oxidizability and corrosion activity, which reduces the odorant consumption for odorization of the transported gas, as well as increase the reliability of odorization, which allows timely detection and elimination of gas leaks.

n-Propyl mercaptan 6.8 8.7
iso-propyl mercaptan else,
add to it (wt.) 0.05 0.14 pyridine and 0.05 0.14 α-picoline, after which the mixture is thoroughly mixed.
1. The compositions of the studied odorants are given in table. one.
2. The proposed and known odorants were tested for odor intensity and stability according to GOST 22387.5-77 by the organoleptic method in the odorizing chamber on a five-point scale. The test results are given in table. 2.
The same intensity and odor stability is provided at a concentration of 0.02 0.027 mg / m 3 of the proposed and 0.03 0.08 mg / m 3 of a known odorant in air.
3. Data on the solubility, oxidizability and corrosion activity of odorants obtained by known methods are presented in table. 3.
As you can see, the proposed odorant for natural gas "LOIT" has less oxidizability, corrosiveness and a more intense and stable odor compared to known odorants.
Analyzing the data obtained, which are presented in table. 2 and 3, it can be noted that the stability and intensity of the odor in the proposed odorant is higher than in the known ones.
At the same time, with an increase in the concentration of pyridine and a-picoline in the odorant more than 0.14 wt. each does not further increase and stabilize the odor of the main indicator of the odorant, and when the concentration decreases to less than 0.05 wt. the goal is not achieved.
The application of the proposed odorant will provide a technical and economic effect by increasing the reliability of odorization, which allows to detect and eliminate gas leaks, as well as by reducing odorization standards.
At present, a pilot industrial installation has been mounted at the OGPZ and the production of a new odorant is being organized.
