Abstract
Description
The invention relates to methods for producing inorganic compounds and, in particular, to obtain arsenic trichloride.
A known method of producing arsenic trichloride based on the reversible interaction of white arsenic with concentrated hydrochloric acid:
As 2 O 3 + 6 HCl AsCl 3 + 3 H 2 O
The reaction is carried out in the presence of sulfuric acid as a water-taking agent, shifting the equilibrium towards the formation of arsenic trichloride [1]
The main disadvantages of this method are: low yield of 48-60%, high costs of white arsenic, hydrochloric and sulfuric acids, a large amount of acidic waste contaminated with arsenic, which creates great environmental problems.
There is also known a method for producing arsenic trichloride by the interaction of white arsenic with sulfur monochloride according to the reaction:
2 As 2 O 3 + 6 S 2 Cl 2 __ → 4AsCl 3 + 3 SO 2 + 9S
The reaction is conducted in an iron vessel with a stirrer at a temperature of 95-100 ° C under batch feed sulfur monochloride and gradually increasing the temperature to 125-127 ° C followed by distillation of the formed arsenic trichloride. As a result of distillation, sulfur melt with an admixture of arsenic remains in the cube.
The main disadvantages of this method is the large amount of waste sulfur contaminated with arsenic up to 0.2 kg per 1 kg of the target product, in addition, arsenic trichloride is contaminated with an admixture of sulfur, which is limiting in purification and use in electronics. The technological process is complicated due to the need for constant monitoring of dosing and maintaining temperature.
A disadvantage of the known methods is that the resulting arsenic trichloride is contaminated with sulfur impurities from the starting products, in particular, from white arsenic obtained from real-auripigment or arsenopyrite ores; therefore, before using it in the electronic industry, it must be thoroughly purified from sulfur and other impurities.
низкая чистота треххлористого мышьяка по ряду примесей, которые количественно переходят из исходных веществ в целевой продукт, в связи с чем требуется применение высокочистых мышьяка и хлора;
The closest in technical essence and the achieved result to the invention is a method based on the interaction of arsenic with gaseous chlorine. The process proceeds with the release of heat. Under the conditions of supplying a large amount of chlorine, arsenic ignites spontaneously and control of the supply of chlorine and temperature maintenance is required. The resulting arsenic trichloride is collected in a condenser and subjected to further purification by extraction with hydrochloric acid and distillation [2]
The main disadvantages of this method are:
low purity of arsenic trichloride for a number of impurities that quantitatively pass from the starting materials to the target product, which requires the use of high-purity arsenic and chlorine;
a large amount of arsenic-containing hydrochloric acid waste is formed.
The objective of the invention is to develop a new method for producing arsenic trichloride, which allows you to dispose of the poisonous substance chlorvinyl dichloroarsin using the resulting products in the national economy, and also improve the environmental performance of the process, eliminating the extraction stage.
This is accomplished by reacting a β-hlorvinildihlorarsina with gaseous chlorine at molar ratios of 1: 10-12,0 at a temperature of 50-135 ° C with concurrent distillation of fractions of 1,2-dichloroethylene. The product obtained by this method is purified by distillation.
ClCH CHAsCl2 ClCH=CHAsCl4 ____→ ClCH=CHCl + AsCl3
This is achieved by the interaction of β-chlorovinyl dichloroarsin with pre-dried gaseous chlorine, which is carried out according to the scheme:
ClCH CHAsCl 2 ClCH = CHAsCl 4 ____ → ClCH = CHCl + AsCl 3
Chlorine gas is bubbled through β-chlorovinyl dichlorarsin. The chlorination process is carried out with heating from 50 to 135 about C. At the same time, the resulting 1,2-dichloroethylene is distilled off during the whole process.
Starting chlorination process at a temperature below 50 ° C results in an increase of time and arsenic trichloride yield reduction of 5-7% chlorination at a temperature above 135 ° C leads to contamination of arsenic trichloride dihloretilenovoy fraction due to side reactions. The yield is also reduced due to the transfer of part of the arsenic trichloride to the dichloroethylene fraction.
Chlorine is fed into the process in a molar ratio of 1: 10-12 by the initial β-chlorovinyl dichloroarsine. The decrease in the ratio below 10 leads to an increase in the process time by 1.2-1.5 times, incomplete conversion of β-chlorovinyl dichlororazine. When the amount of chlorine is exceeded above 12-fold, a sharp increase in temperature occurs in the reactor. This creates difficulties in regulating the heat sink, complicates the hardware design of the chlorination process. An increase in temperature complicates the separation of reaction products and leads to a decrease in yield due to the distillation of arsenic trichloride together with the dichloroethylene fraction.
Arsenic trichloride obtained by the claimed method can be further purified by distillation to obtain high purity. After distillation, arsenic trichloride contains the following impurities, wt.

Thus, when implementing the proposed method for producing arsenic trichloride, the process is not accompanied by spontaneous combustion of reagents, which increases its manufacturability and safety; the stage of extraction with hydrochloric acid is excluded, which simplifies the process and reduces the amount of waste and wastewater, increases the yield; the target product contains less impurities, which simplifies its cleaning.
In addition, the method solves the problem of the disposal of the toxic substance lewisite β-chlorovinyl dichlorarsin.
