Abstract
Description
The invention relates to medicine, in particular to neurosurgery.
The aim of the invention is the use of a fan-shaped titanium device for autoplasty of defects of the cranial vault.
The drawing shows the proposed device.
The device consists of the same articulated ends, diverging titanium plates 1 with a length of 50 mm, a width of 7 mm and a thickness of 0.5 mm. The ends of the plates have a rounded shape and at one end of each of the plates there is an opening for their mutual fixation. Rivet 2, made of stainless steel used in medicine, is used as a retainer. A swivel connection of the plates can also be carried out using a bolt of the same material.
Titanium plates can have various sizes. Their length can be from 30 mm to 150 mm, width from 3 mm to 20 mm, thickness from 0.5 mm to 2 mm. The number of plates can be from 3 to 8 pieces. The number and length of the plates depend on the size of the defect of the cranial vault. In working condition, the device has the shape of a “fan”.
The device operates as follows.
Depending on the size of the defect of the cranial vault, a device is selected (length, width and number of plates). The free ends of the plates are fixed at the edges of the skull defect, where "grooves" are formed between the outer and inner bone plates 0.3-0.5 cm deep at a distance of 1.5-2.0 cm from each other (the number of "grooves" depends on the number records). The articulated end of the fan-shaped device is fixed in the opposite edge of the skull defect in a groove made on the outer plate of the skull bone. Bone fragments are placed over the device and are fixed by the periosteum and skin-aponeurotic patch, which are sutured tightly. After a good fusion of bone fragments and the closure of a bone defect in the cranial vault, as visualized on radiographs, the device is removed through a small incision in the soft tissues. In this case, the end part of the “fan” is pressed by the clamp and gradually extended and removed.
