Abstract
Description
The invention relates to chromatographic separation and analysis methods and can be used in energy, chemical and food industries.
Known chromatographic method for the determination of volatile substances dissolved in a liquid, based on adsorption methods for the allocation of analytes from a liquid when it is filtered through a sorbent [1]
However, the sorption method does not provide quantitative extraction of volatile and gaseous components, such as oxygen, nitrogen, etc. In addition, the subsequent desorption of the isolated impurities requires either an increase in temperature or the use of organic solvents, which increases the analysis time, complicates its automation and makes it practically impossible to carry out analyzes in a continuous mode.
A known method for the determination of volatile substances dissolved in a liquid, including the extraction of the analyzed substances in the gas phase by filtering a sample of the analyzed liquid through a layer of sorbent, desorption of the analyzed substances by a carrier gas stream, followed by chromatographic separation and analysis [2]
The disadvantage of this method is the inability to implement the analysis in continuous mode. In addition, this method is not suitable for the extraction of volatile substances from liquids wetting the sorbent material, and its scope is limited to the analysis of only aqueous solutions.
The objective of the invention is to expand the capabilities of the method by implementing it in a continuous mode, as well as the determination of dissolved substances in liquids wetting the sorbent material.
To do this, the fluid stream wetting the materials used is passed sequentially through the end first layer, the middle layer and the second dense layer of the block, and the extracting gas stream is passed only through the middle layer so that its pressure is higher than the liquid pressure.
The method allows to significantly expand the range of tasks associated with the determination of the content of volatile substances in liquids, given the wide range of non-polar liquids that wet the materials used.
The drawing shows a diagram of the process. The flows of exchanging phases in this scheme move in mutually perpendicular directions. It is also possible to carry out the process with the movement of phases in opposite directions.
The method can be used, for example, to determine gaseous decomposition products in transformer oil, dissolved gases in ditolylmethane, used as an organic coolant of a nuclear reactor, etc. To determine dissolved readily volatile substances, this method produces a three-layer block of inert porous material, for example from polytetrafluoroethylene. The flow of the analyzed liquid (transformer oil, ditolylmethane, etc.) is passed sequentially through the first dense layer, the middle layer 2 and the second
Thus, the method allows the continuous determination of volatile substances in various organic liquids, which are wetting in relation to the porous materials used, and thereby significantly expand the range of analytical tasks to be solved.
