Abstract
Description
The invention relates to analytical chemistry.
Known fluxes for the analysis of silicate materials based on lithium borates with various additives.
For example, in the cement industry, flux based on lithium metaborate or lithium tetraborate with additives of lithium carbonate (10-20%) and sodium nitrate (5%), respectively, is widely used [1]
The closest in properties to the proposed are fluxes based on lithium metaborate or tetraborate with the addition of lithium carbonate in an amount of 10-20%. They are used in x-ray analysis of clay [2]
Known fluxes do not provide the necessary reproducibility and accuracy of the analysis of silicate materials when they contain sodium and silicon oxides, especially in the range of concentrations above 10 and 60%, respectively. In addition, they do not ensure the stability of fused emitters during storage for more than one week.
The invention is aimed at improving the reproducibility and accuracy of the analysis of sodium and silicon oxides, increasing the stability of fused emitters during storage, which is necessary to ensure long-term calibration stability.
The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the flux for X-ray spectral analysis (XRD) of silicate materials, including lithium borates and an additive, contains lithium nitrate and lithium chloride as an additive in the following ratio of components, wt. Lithium nitrate 6-9 Lithium chloride 5-6 Lithium borates
The difference is the use of lithium nitrate and lithium chloride as an additive in the claimed optimal amounts, the action of which can significantly increase the accuracy and reproducibility of the analysis of sodium and silicon oxides in silicate materials, as well as improve the quality of the emitter in terms of strength and stability during storage.
Examples of carrying out the invention.
Samples of materials (limestone, cement raw mixes, glass tubes, etc.) were fused on a graphite substrate according to the Giprocement method (GOST 5382-91, p. 86) with a flux of the proposed composition and a flux selected for the prototype in five parallel samples. Reproducibility and accuracy were calculated as standard errors from a number of definitions immediately upon preparation of fused emitters. Storage stability was evaluated a month after storing the samples also by the standard error of reproducibility of the same samples.
The data from these tests are summarized in table 1. As Table 1 shows, a decrease in the content of lithium nitrate in the composition of the flux below 6% led to the flow off of the melt from the substrate due to its high fluidity. An increase in lithium nitrate above 9% caused an increase in the fragility of the melt, which was manifested in the appearance of chips on the surface of the emitter.
(Na2O > 10% SiO2 > 60%).An increase in lithium chloride in the flux composition of more than 6% also led to an increase in the brittleness of the melt. A decrease in lithium chloride below 5% led to a deterioration in the reproducibility of the analysis of sodium and silicon oxides, especially in the region of high concentrations of these oxides (Na 2 O> 10% SiO 2 > 60%).
The proposed composition of the flux is optimal and the stability of the reproducibility of the intensities of sodium and silicon during storage. A month after the storage of emitters fused with the proposed flux, the reproducibility of the intensities of sodium and silicon remained practically unchanged, while the prototype reproducibility of the intensities of sodium and silicon deteriorated by about 1.5 times, and the accuracy of the analysis also decreased.
Table 2 shows the comparative results of chemical analysis (x, a) and X-ray using the proposed flux for different silicate materials in a wide range of concentrations of silicon oxides, sodium and others. As can be seen from table 2, the application of the proposed flux provides convergence between xa and x-ray for all investigated materials, elements and concentrations at the level of their normalized tolerances.
Thus, the proposed composition of the flux is optimal in reproducibility and accuracy of the analysis of sodium and silicon oxides, in the quality of the emitter, in strength and stability during storage, which allows it to be successfully used in industries where silicate materials are used.
